Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior in adolescents is a social problem that needs attention. Premarital sexual behavior is problematic, because it is not balanced with adequate knowledge of reproductive health, so it often results in unwanted pregnancies among adolescents. The social environment is one of the factors that can be a driving factor for adolescent behavior, but on the other hand the social environment can also make behavioral changes. This article will describe adolescent sexual behavior, both for adolescents from migrant and non-migrant households in the CHAMPSEA (Child Health and Migrant Parents in South East Asia) research area in West Java and East Java. Respondents for this article are young adults with a sample of 429 adolescents from migrant and non-migrant households. The results of the study show that as many as 5.07 percent of unmarried adolescents have had premarital sexual relations, which are carried out both by adolescents from migrant and non-migrant households. Based on gender, premarital sexual behavior is more often carried out by girls than boys. While the age of first premarital sexual intercourse is mostly carried out by adolescents aged 18 years (35 percent), which is different from their perceptions of the age of marriage. Whereas based on the social environment of adolescents, there are 28.74 percent of respondents who have friends who have premarital sexual relations, have premarital sexual relations.

Abstract

International migration affects children who are left behind in their homes. One of the impacts is the health conditions of migrant children. When a child is left by a parent to migrate, the daily activities and life of the child will become a little lame due tono role ofone or both parents who care for and care for health, education, and behavior. This article discusses the impact of international migration on parents on children's health conditions and health behavior and care of migrant children. The data used is the result of CHAMPSEA 2016 study which focuses on the conditions of children and families of international migrants. The results show that international parental migration didnot have a major influence on the health conditions of children, migrant children only experience mild health problems without experiencing serious health problems, such as severe illness and physical / mental disabilities. The behavior of migrant children towards health and the role of caregivers of migrant children contributedto the child's health condition. Good health behavior of migrant children and good care still does not rule out the possibility of developing mild health problems.

Abstract

Findings of studies on the presence of immigrant workers in Malaysia often present negative social and economic implications. Their entry into the country is frequently a contentious issue due to their presence associated often with illegal foreign workers. This paper however is an attempt to provide insights into the involvement of Indonesian immigrants in the food business sector, their business adaptability and their survival strategies in a foreign land. The Indonesian immigrants’ experiences, from their beginnings in Sabah until their current social and community achievements, are presented in this study. Anchored on a biography study orientation and the in-depth interview method, this exploratory study examines the life experiences of five food business entrepreneurs in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah using the snowball effect as a sampling method with the subsequent data analysed thematically. Findings indicate determination and dedication as the main threads in the positive survival among Indonesian food business entrepreneurs. This study identifies seven survival strategies instrumental to the success and adaptability of the Indonesian immigrant community in their host country. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that (1) not all immigrants become liabilities to their host country and community, (2) some immigrants develop local communities by building public religious schools, and (3) some immigrants contribute to the development of local economies. The findings from this study can be utilised to develop better and more positive social and economic development overtures that could sustain a harmonious and peaceful society.

Abstract

Indonesia is classified as developing country which still have low level of national education. One of the way to improve the level of education happening in this era is by studying abroad. There are lot of universities in Indonesia that already establish cooperation with foreign universities. This cooperation helps Indonesia student get the accessibility to join study abroad program. This paper has two objectives. The first one is to know the development of studying abroad program conducted by Indonesian student spatially and temporarily. The second one is to know Indonesian student’s perspectives about study abroad program from their level of satisfaction. This paper uses primary and secondary data to analyze this issue. This primary data was taken from questionnaire through 14 respondents and the secondary data was taken from UNESCO statistical data and news. The results of the paper show that the spatial distribution of Indonesian student international mobility varies from Asian, European, Middle Eastern, and American countries. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between migration, poverty, and fulfillment of food demand. Research design is a mixed method, combining survey and qualitative methods. The survey was conducted involving 100 samples of randomly selected households. While the qualitative method is carried out by in-depth interviews with selected households and key informants. The results of this study indicate that the impact of tidal flooding on the community economy is very significant. For example, more than one fifth of households fall into the poor category (per capita expenditure below the poverty line). One of the reasons is that tidal flooding has resulted in the loss of most people's livelihoods from agriculture. In addition, the loss of agricultural land has also resulted in the loss of food resources. In the end, this caused most households to rely on non-agricultural work, namely as laborers, outside the village. As a consequence they have to carry out non-permanent mobility as a way to overcome the economic problems they face. The interesting thing is they don't want to migrate to other places. One reason why they do not migrate is their inability to overcome economic barriers in the form of costs to migrate.
