Widyariset
Widyariset is a scientific journal which publishes the results of research and development, assessment and systematic thinking about science and technology. The writers of the scientific papers in this journal come from researchers/researcher candidates from various institutions' research and development (R&D), and universities. Widyariset is published regularly three times a year: in April for the issue of Social Sciences and Humanities (IPSK), in August for the issue of Natural Sciences (IPA) and in December for the issue of Engineering Sciences (IPT).

The study was an impact evaluation of the implementation of dissemination innovation technology in a participatory through the FEATI program in BPTP Banten, particularly conducted through demonstration plots and learning activities of FMA. The study purposed to describe the implementation, to evaluate the impact of adoption of technology at the farmers level, and to find out the enhance of the productivity or the production and the farmers income of FMA’s farmers as a the result of learning activities and demonstration plots. The assessment was accomplished by using FGD method in three sub districts of FEATI locations in Serang. The results showed that demonstration plots and learning activities in a participatory became acceptable for the farmers and effective as technology dissemination activities. The impact resulting from these two activities were increasing of the productivity or the production and the farmers income.

This study aims to develop and validate the Novaco Anger Scale (NAS) in Indonesia. NAS is a psychometric instrument to measure the emotion of anger that focuses on the theoretical dimension of the concept of emotional upset. NAS is designed to measure aspects of cognitive, physiological, impulsive behaviour respons, and angry management. NAS had previously been adapted in Sweden. Sampel used is 29 students and 67 student of the University of Persada Indonesia Jakarta (N = 96). Data analysis conducted by factor analysis, analysis of construct validity and reliability test. The results showed that the NAS adaptation has good validity and reliability.

2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline (2-AP) is the most important compound in aromatic rice that correlated with the quality of the aroma, therefore, determination of 2-AP concentration become very important. This research aims to find the extraction method to obtain the highest yield recovery of 2-AP. The materials used were H51 and Segara Anak to treatments test, and Pandan wangi, Sariwangi, Sintanur, and Gilirang for comparison the methods. Analysis using SPME method with three types of sample treatment, i.e. 80 mesh flour, 45 mesh flour, and cooked rice. While the analysis using Likens Nickerson with a different anti-foaming agent (MgSO4 and silicon) and a different ratio of rice and water (1:2 and 1:3). Extract samples were analyzed using Gas Chromatography Mass spectrometry (GCMS). The best results of any treatment will be used in a comparison test between the two extraction methods. The sample type of 45 mesh powder on SPME method (SPME-opt) and silicon as an anti foaming agent as well as rice and water ratio 1:3 on the Likens Nickerson method (Likens Nickerson-opt) is the best treatment in determining the yield recovery of 2 - AP. Comparison test indicated that SPME-opt is better than Likens Nickerson-opt in obtain the yield recovery of 2-AP.

Pneumonia constitutes the greatest disease that causing death among children under-five in the world. Risk of death can be decreased, if the illness were identified early, treated appropriately and prevention efforts. The study aimed to determine the influence of in-house environmental risk factor against the prevalence of pneumonia in children. The study used cross-sectional design with descriptive method which consisted of 2.408 samples of 80.329 households from Riskesdas 2007 data. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate of Chi-square to get the level of risk by odds ratio, as well as the significance of correlation between dependent and independent variables of the study. The results showed that significant correlation between the type of floor (OR = 1.209; CI 95%) and fuel type (OR = 1.683; CI 95%) with prevalence of pneumonia children under-five. Conclusion of the study is that the floor type and the fuel have significant correlation with the prevalence of pneumonia, while the crowding and the presence of household members whom smoke could be not described its correlation clearly.

Biological diversity was an invaluable asset because it had amazing potency. The uniqueness of nature and its climate had put Indonesia as megabiodiversity country. In other side, high exploration of resources and policies have a little concern on ecology and biodiversity preservation had threatened sustainability of species. Regulation of Forestry Minister number 324/2010 stated Tulobolo-Pinogu Resort of Boganinani Wartabone National Park as a limited production forest. According Government Regulation Number 7/1999, ebony (Diospyros spp.) was protected species. The objective of this research was to inventory all of tree species in Tulabolo-Pinogu especially eboni as to attempt of biodiversity conservation. This study used transect lines method with 3 hectare sampling area. This research found 6 species of ebony, 3 has been reported that D. buxifolia, D. minahassae and D. korthalsiana, 3 newly reporte D. cauliflora, D. malabarica and D. pilosanthera. All of ebony were found is very limited and vulnerable.

Rice Cropping Index 400 is an option to increase national rice production by 5% every year. The purpose of this study is to know the prospect of increasing cropping index of irrigated paddy to Rice Cropping Index 400 in West Sumatra Province in terms of agro ecosystem sustainability and financial feasibility. The assessments used primary and secondary data. Quantitative analysis was applied to analyze total revenue and revenue to cost ratio (R/C). The results indicated that Rice Cropping Index 400 is feasible in West Sumatra Province in terms of agro ecosystem sustainability and financial feasibility with R/C value 2,22. The scenario of Rice Cropping Index 400 is to plant rice varieties Silugonggo and Ciherang, with “culikan” seedbed 15 days before harvest.

Arafura and Timor Sea is territorial waters which surround three countries of Indonesia, Australia, and Timor Leste. Both seas have very strategic and transboundary conditions, such as for fisheries, sea-climate variability, marine pollutions and others. Therefore, we need studies to understand the characteristics of currents circulation. The most important physical parameters of these features is the dynamics of the upwelling and down welling. Hydrodynamics of 3-D modelling for currents circulation, using tides and wind as initial conditions, is employed to simulating scenarios of the Northwest monsoon, Southeast monsoon, and transition of both monsoons. The results are qualitatively verified. The dynamics of horizontally surface currents follows the monsoon system, and the vertical circulation is significantly exists. Upwelling in coastal waters south of the island of Timor, and between the Islands and the Tanimbar Aru islands appear in all the monsoon due to the influence of the bathymetry. The current circulation is potentially indirect contribution to the fisheries activities in the seas.

Phenotypic performance and yields needed for specific lines selection. Experiment was conducted to determine phenotypic performance and grain yield of nine promising lines of composite maize (Zea mays) as the information needed to released as specific varieties of West Java. A set of field experiment were established in Majalengka and Sumedang district, from April to Juli 2010. Nine maize lines and 3 control varieties i.e. Gumarang, Makmur-1, and Sinta-1 were planted based on a randomized block design. The result showed that AS-1 has better ear performance than control varieties. R2, R3, and AS-1 has a character of high yields potential equivalent to the varieties and opportunity to be released as specific composite maize varieties of West Java.

Infectious disease remains as a prominent health problem and worsened by the emerging antibiotic resistance. Probiotic has been an alternatievly popular application. Lactobacillus plantarum mar8 isolated from tropical fruit showed a stable mannose specific adhesin (MSA) activity in term of competing for and inducing immunity to infecting pathogen. This research focused on coating the probiotic with dextrin in fruit juice using a spraydrying technique to produce microencapsulated probiotic. The microencapsulation using 5% dextrin in either passion fruit or orange juice produced more compact capsule and supported higher probiotic viability. The microencapsulated probiotic expressed MSA gene for at least 10 generation indicating conserved function of probiotic.
