Abstract

Technological developments and the increasing use of smartphones have significantly changed individual behavior in organizations. This era has created cyberloafing behavior at work. This study explores the antecedents and determinants of cyberloafing behavior by examining the role of emotional exhaustion and job overload and their effect on organizational commitment. The respondents of this study were 300 star-rated hotel employees in the Province of Special Region of Yogyakarta selected by purposive sampling. The data collected by distributing questionnaires were then processed using the Structural Equation Modelling method using Smart PLS. The results showed that emotional exhaustion increased employee cyberloafing behavior, while job overload decreased cyberloafing behavior. Cyberloafing was also found to hurt organizational commitment. Finally, cyberloafing was proven to mediate the effect of emotional exhaustion and job overload on organizational commitment. In conclusion, these findings suggest that creating a healthy and attractive work environment balanced with the right allocation of tasks will likely lead to reduced cyberloafing.

Abstract

The first study's goal was to determine whether profitability, leverage, firm size, institutional ownership, and independent commissioners have an impact on financial reporting timeliness. The second goal was to see if the auditor class might mitigate the influence of profitability, leverage, company size, institutional ownership, and independent commissioners on financial reporting timeliness for energy businesses listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2017 and 2021. The data analysis method used logit regression for panel data analysis. According to the findings, profitability and independent commissioners had a considerable influence and a favorable link with financial reporting timeliness. Leverage, institutional ownership, and company size were not significant in the financial reporting timelines. The auditor class is unable to balance the variables of profitability, leverage, firm size, independent commissioners, and institutional ownership with financial reporting timeliness.

Abstract

This study meticulously examined the impact of compensation and organizational commitment on turnover intentions among young female employees, with job satisfaction as a mediating factor. The study's subject pool comprises young female employees aged between 19 and 25 in private healthcare institutions. Data collation entailed employing a Likert scale questionnaire, while the ensuing analysis adopted the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach. The conclusions study proffered that compensation exerted a non-significant negative impact on turnover intentions, concurrently exerting a significant positive influence on job satisfaction. Organizational commitment yielded a notable and negative impact on turnover intentions, simultaneously engendering a marked positive impact on job satisfaction. Curiously, job satisfaction evinced a non-significant negative impact on turnover intentions. Further nuanced analyses revealed that compensation yielded a non-significant negative impact on turnover intentions via the intermediary of job satisfaction. Similarly, organizational commitment's influence on turnover intentions was insignificant when mediated through job satisfaction. This study's seminal contribution discovered that contrary to prevalent assumptions, especially for young female employees, when compensation could provide job satisfaction and is combined with organizational commitment, it will not affect turnover intentions directly or indirectly.
