Abstract

This study discusses the staffs understanding of an existing maternal and neonatal program in Indonesia, namely the PONEK (Comprehensive Neonatal Emergency Obstetrics Services) program which is specifically held in Government Hospital or Private Hospital which is designated as PONEK hospital, research This focuses on comparing the performance of staff to the PONEK program of the hospital. The role of medical staff in running a program of health organizations is very influential in the success of a health program and service delivery. PONEK is a government program in order to minimize health problems in Indonesia, especially maternal and infant morbidity. This study aims to see differences in staff perceptions related to understanding the performance of ponek program. Method: The total number of samples in this study were 41 respondents (21 respondents Government Hospital and 19 respondents Private Hospital), statistical analysis used in this study is Mann Whitney. Result: Of the 6 factors that affect the performance, there are 2 factors that have a significant difference, that is cooperation factor with p-value 0,01 <ɑ (0,05) and support of superior with p-value 0,024 <ɑ (0,05). Conclusion: From the above results, the performance of private hospital employees compared to government hospitals has significant differences in terms of cooperation factors and support factors of supervisors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the knowledge and compliance of nurses on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This research use mix method research with descriptive survey approach and cross-sectional design. Quantitative data were obtained from distributing questionnaires with total sampling techniques. Qualitative data obtained from observation and interview. The results of this study found that as many as 12 people nurses (60%) have high knowledge and 8 people nurses (40%) have low knowledge. Besides that, it was found that 16 nurses (80%) were obeyed with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (APD) and 4 nurses (20%) were disobey in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The conclusion of this research is nurses at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul have the high level of knowledge about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and they obey on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to find out the knowledge concerning the guidelines fall risk to the patients, to find out the ability of the nurses in the simulation of the guiding steps for the risk for falls, to find out the conformity of the review on the medical records of the patients, and to find out the obstacles in preventing risk for falls. It is a mix method study, which is a quantitative method with cross-sectional approach, and qualitative method with descriptive research design. The population of this study were 37 respondents for the quantitative research and 9 informants for the qualitative research. The results of the questionnaire indicate the presence of knowledge that most have fair criteria that is as much as 46%. The results of the medical record study show most of the full or compliant as much as 89.2%. While the structured interview showed different results. The conclusions of this study were that there was sufficient knowledge but lacked of discipline in completing the medical records, and there were still some obstacles in implementing the guidelines for risk for falls.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to modify and determine the dimensions and themes of the patient safety culture tool by MaPSaF. This study was a qualitative design with study literature approach. The result of this study was MaPSaF composed of 10 dimensions of patient safety culture with 24 aspects which contain the statements in each theme. The dimensions are the commitment to overall continuous improvement, priority given to safety, system errors and individual responsibility, recording incidents and best practice, evaluating incidents and best practice, learning and affecting change, communication about safety issues, personnel management and safety issues, staff education and training, and teamwork. The aspects are committed to improvement, audit, policies, priority of patient safety, risk management system, implementation of patient safety, the cause of the incident, patient safety culture, reporting feeling and system, data analysis, the focus and result of investigation, incidents learning, the people in deciding of change, communication about patient safety between staff, patient or both, share the information, supporting the staff, training needs and purposes, team structure, the flow of information and sharing.

Abstract

X Hospital has conducted the strategic plan and evaluated it, but there is inexpediency of work program and the budget sets in its implementation. Therefore, the goal of the strategic plan is not achieved and the unit performance is not maximal. Consequently, this study is aimed to analyze the process of the arrangement to the implementation of the Strategic Plan policy and the influencing factors. This research uses qualitative method. The primary data collection is conducted in-depth interview to 14 informants, while that of secondary data are obtained by reviewing the documents. The results show that the process of arranging and evaluating the strategic plan and the work program has not fully involved all the Directors and Managers concerned. Furthermore, the clarity and consistency of the Strategic Plan still lacks of the stage of implementation. The corporate performance-level parameters based on the balanced score card are not also descended to the Key Performance Indicator per directorate. However, the aspect of Human Resource understanding to the Strategic Plan has been fulfilled. Aspects of attitude and commitment both to the Executive Officers, Board of Directors and Managers are also very well.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate hospital management indicator progress, analyzing the indicator and also described M Hospital management indicators. This study is using mix method design with explanatory sequential. Participants consist of the pharmacist, the head of the medical record unit, clinical risk management and patient safety committee, the head of a radiology unit, inpatient, permanent staff of the hospital, and the head of financial officer hospital management. Overall, the data showed that M Hospital’s indicator hasn’t completely matched it’s agreed on an element.  Nine newly researched indicators were proposals from each unit. However, the indicator understudy remains relevant for measuring the needs of this hospital in order to improve the quality of patient care and safety.

Abstract

X Hospital Bantul is a type C hospital that has a capacity of 129 beds with a total of 173 nurses. As a health worker who provides nursing services for 24 hours, nurses contribute greatly in improving the quality of service in hospitals. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the chief management approach and nurses job satisfaction on the performance of the nurses in the inpatient ward of X Hospital.The population of all nurses in the inpatient ward. The sample size was 101 nurses in the inpatient ward. Data analysis using linear regression.Result of t test of management approach obtained t value equal to 5,393 (5,393> 1,984) and obtained t count value equal to 2,916 (2,916> 1,984) which mean approach of management and job satisfaction partially have significant influence to nurse performance. While F test result obtained by F value 21.135 (21,135> 3,089) with p value (0,000), which means there is a significant effect together the approach of chief management of space and job satisfaction on the performance of nurses in hospital ward PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul. The conclusion of management approach and job satisfaction has a significant effect on the performance of nurses at X Hospital.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the correlation of coder’s comprehension, audit implementation, medical record the completeness, SOP implementation, as well as facilities and infrastructure completeness with the inaccuracy of outpatient diagnosis coding in General Surgery and Neurosurgery Polyclinics, Hospital X, Badung Regency. This research was quantitative analytic research with cross-sectional study design. A total of 8 coders were sampled and as many as 200 medical records were selected for the determination of coding inaccuracy. The results showed that most medical records are inaccurately coded. The bivariate test using spearmans who indicated that there was a correlation between the coder’s comprehension (sig. = 0.000), audit implementation (sig. = 0.003), medical record completeness (sig. = 0.000), SOP implementation (sig. = 0.004), as well as facilities and infrastructure completeness (sig. = 0.000) with the inaccuracy of outpatient disease diagnosis coding.

Abstract

Based on pre-survey in Balung General Hospital, showed that emergency form has not qualified with hospital accreditation standard (version 2012) for an early medic and nursing assessment. The aim of this research is to re-design emergency forms based on hospital accreditation standard  (version 2012) in Balung General Hospital. This research is a qualitative study with observation, interview, and brainstorming. The result of this research is viewed from the physical aspect of the emergency form using white paper in size of A4 80 gram in portrait layout. Based on anatomy aspect, the form heading is to put the logo, the name and the full address of the instance, the introduction which should be appropriate with the aim of the form that is the early medic and nursing assessment. Based on the content aspect of the emergency form, the additional data consists of a kind of triage, the date of arrival and handling, painful scale, medicine allergic and fall down risk. Based on the nursing assessment form, it consists of patients identity, primary survey, secondary survey, nursing diagnose, action plan, self nurse-act, nursing evaluation, further action, given tasks and nurse authentication. Hopefully, the researchers suggestion related to the result of emergency form design can be applied in Balung General Hospital, Jember.

Abstract

Sentinel events can result in death in suicide cases perpetrated by patients with mental disorders. The research was conducted using qualitative method. Themes obtained through coding the results of interviews are first: health workers are less alert, second: the ratio of officers and patients unbalanced, third: not yet implemented SPO patient safety by officers, fourth: facilities and infrastructure of mental hospitals that support the case Sentinel suicide, and depression conditions in patients led to a suicide sentinel case. Prevention strategies for suicide sentinel cases include: preliminary early assessment of suicidal risk patients, improvement of infrastructure facilities that support patient safety, improvement of human resources quality with education and training Keywords: sentinel, suicide, mental disorders
