Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the transport movement generation in Bandung City by using QuickBird imagery remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems. The method used in this research is spatial approach by quantitative descriptive analysis. It resulted that the greatest movement generation come from the regular housing types of 3440 people per hour. The District with the greatest generation was Sub Ujungberung, i.e. 55,501 people per hour, whereas the highway with the greatest amount of generation is Soekarno-Hatta Street of 51,014 people per hour.

Abstract

In 2007, a series of landslides occurred at Tawangmangu, resulting in the collapse of several houses and the death of dozens of people. One essential pathway to reduce the vulnerability of communities goes through an increased preparedness. The present contribution aims to determine existing level of preparedness by analysing the people perception and knowledgeof landslides. Survey method with random sampling technique was applied to assess the level of people perception and to analysis local people knowledge regarding with landslide. The number of respondents was spread proportionally across five sub-villages; Plalar, Guyon, Sodong, Salere and Ngledoksari. The respondents were interviewed using questionnaires with open and closed questions. Statistical analysis with multiple linear regressions was applied to identify the influencing factors of local people perception related to landside. The result show that people in the area have good knowledge and perception about landslide. This condition is commonly influenced by age and education.

Abstract

Pada dekade mendatang, teknologi sistem informasi geografik terus berkembang dengan cepat. Perkembangan akan semakin nampak pada kecepatan, kapasitas penyimpanan dan sistem komputasi. Peranan sistem informasi yang berorientasi pada referensi di permukaan bumi atau spasial akan semakin dominan dalam pengambilan keputusan untuk perencanaan dan operasionalisasi pembangunan yang berkelanjutan dan berwawasan lingkungan. Banyak tantangan dan harapan yang perlu dihadapi dalam perkembangan informasi spasial yang diperlukan dalam pengambilan keputusan. Makalah ini mencoba mengulas beberapa harapan dan kendala atau tantangan dalam perkembangan sistem informasi geografik di Indonesia.

Abstract

There are two objectives of this researh. First, to identify and analyze the condition of ground water quality in the research area, and second to determined the chemial types of groundwater. To ahieve these objectives 59 groundwater samples were taken stratifiedly, base on the different of electrical conductance value. As a result, it is identified that most groundwater in the research area is not suitable for drinking water sources, because has high concentration of electrical conductance, turbidity, hardness, chloride, manganese, and salinity. Thiis conclusion is also supported by stiff diagram analysis. The result of Stuyfzand analysis shhows that the chemical types of groundwater is very variative. Groundwater in coastal areas has higher suply of saline water than fresh water.

Abstract

Yogyakarta city principally be able to develop as an urban tourism. The international altraction i.e. Malioboro has been growth over the world, and being the first nesessary objet for paying attention beside the other tourism object as an old Cina building, old Europe building, and Javanese traditional houses also classical Javanese musi (gamelan) and dancing, and not to be forgotten is the special various Javanese food (gastronomi). The serious problems up till now exist is city transportation specially tourism transportation not supporting efficienly and also nicely mode for getting all potential city tourism location. Uplevelling rural tourism (rural – urban) potential more or less was still forgetted, so the socio economic, value losses by feelingness way. In the near future programme and planning for supporting the Yogyakarta City to the urban tourism is very strategic and very importance especially develop the tourism attraction object as well as seriously by linking all urban activities tourism to rural area tourism at the surrounding Yogyakarta special teritorry. Rural urban linkages model will be the nicely tool, with more special attention to all attraction potential tourism object are develop who supported the local rural people and special policy programme.

Abstract

"Littoralization" can be geographically studied based on geomorphological approach and landuse system. The method of coastal geography provides useful data of geomorphology and landuse system. This research was conducted in the coastal area of south of Yogyakarta. To process spatial data was used Geographic Information System (GIS) methods (i.e. Aerial photography, satellite imagery, and field observation results). The results showed that the research area has a volcanic sandy coastal typology with flat to sloping topography. Further, this typology is divided into three units of typology, the active beach ridge and sand dunes, non-active beach ridge, and the foot hills. Development of the settlements tends toward the sea due to economic dependence on beach tourism.

Abstract

Indonesia is vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami disaster because it is located in the fracture zone between the continental and oceanic lithospheres, running from the west of Sumatera, though the south of Java, NTB, Sulawesi to Papua. In the theoretical framework of Indonesian tectonic lithosphere, this zone is known as Sula-spuur. The frequent earthquake and tsunamis in Indonesia justify the theory that the earth will always seeks for dynamic self-balance through oceanic basin as well as continental basement expansions. Based on the tectonic lithosphere analysis, the anatomy of earthquake and tsunami disaster in Java falls into two different paths. The first is northwestward path in Western Java following the Semangko fault trend, from Pangandaran/Cilacap through Kadipaten, Subang to Jakarta. The other is the northeastward path in Central Java and East Java running from Bantul through Prambanan, Klaten to Rembang. The two hats correspond to the seventeen-kilometre-deep-underground fracture involving basement rocks resulted from the area shifting evolution during the limestone age prior to the existence of limestone in Indonesia. Based on the evidences found in Bantul- Klaten earthquake, the question necessary to raise is whether similar earthquake may happen in Jakarta.

Abstract

Application of regression statistic to analyse geography data is getting familiar, as the reason that geography object is really wide, kwantitative approach of geography and availibilty computer software of regression analysis which is getting complete and refresentative. The way of making decision and prediction constitutes the superiority of regression analysis and constitutes the issue which is often met by geographer in the study of geography object. It not only phenomena of human geography, but phisycal geography phenomena is also able to be approtached by regression analysis. For user the attentions that ought to be noticed are 1) regression statistic ought to be appraised as a fool and not as a brain, so that researcher is the main important operator; 2) mastery of geography subject matter constitutes an essential basis; 3) statistic is able to work if there is a detum which is able to fulfill the term of requirements and preceded by a logic causal relation; 4) close attention of reasearcher is highly required; 5) when must, researcher use the  statistic and the relationship between data type and statistical technique.

Abstract

This research aims at identification of spatial plan zonation in rock fall prone areas. Research method applies hazard, vulnerability and risk analysis as an input for spatial modeling using Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE). Research reveals that in Girimulyo is susceptible towards rock fall. In the last decades, there were 16 occurrences of rock fall that impacted to physical damages. Fortunately, such disaster did not cause any harm to human life. Therefore, research argue that physical vulnerability analysis can be analyzed, while social vulnerability cannot be analyzed further, since it had less data support. According to the research, there are more than 48 housing units located in hazard zone. Hence, local government should initiate structural mitigation to avoid further loss. Research also reveals that areas with high susceptibility will not directly consider as high risk zone, unless it has high vulnerability index. Example: areas along escarpment, where it has high susceptibility, but it has no element at risk in the area. Thereby, research tries to present zonation for prone hazard areas, using risk index. The result is quite representative, since possible areas to be developed is anywhere alongside road network. Indication of the area is produced from the multi criteria analysis. Multi criteria analysis is an essential method to combine spatial data and its attribute. Using such method requires more data input and expertise in justifying indicator to be selected.

Abstract

Land resources is an important geographical aspect related to landuse allocation for human living.  The aim of this research is to study the spatial ecological analysis for land resources in related to landuse type in the Province ofYogyakarta Special Region, the approach used in the research is landscape analysis based on geomorphological mapping, topographic map at scale 1:100000. Land resources potential in the study area can be classified based on landscape such as volcanic landscape, fluvial landscape, marine and eolion landscape, karst landscape (Gunung Sewu), structural - denudational landscape (Balur Agung). Landuse can be alocated based on the landscape condition, and limitation. Land limitation such as slope steepness, soils, natural hazard, water resources in each landscape can be used as detrminant factors in the landuse plan.
