Abstract

The task of development is part of the overall national task carried out along governance. This task has been entrusted to the government as a gradual long-term task, planning, and sustainable. Implied in it, the intention to achieve a better state. Contained within the dimension of time setting goals, achieving goals, and overall utilization of benefits for citizens throughout the country. Enshrined also be aware that there will be found a variety of difficulties, limitations, and problems that must be solved. The problems of urban development in Indonesia can be viewed from two approaches, namely macro and micro approaches. A macro approach urban problems are reviewed in the context of the region (national scale). While the approach is seen as a micro city neighborhoods. This problem is closely related to the natural growth of the city population and population migration. Based on research on urban and regional development, it can be concluded: 1) the problem of urbanization of rural and small towns to large cities should be addressed; 2) urban spatial arrangements should be improved to do with increasingly limited land for development and urban development; 3) the provision of facilities and infrastructure of the city, city management, and financing of urban development, integration between government, society, and the private sector should be increased; 4) study of urban models that can accommodate all the problems of the city should be developed continuously.

Abstract

This research is aimed at studying the ground water salinity and the geographicaal aspect of Grogol subdistrict area. This study, therefore, dials withs (a) the ground water salinity and the factors influencing; (b) the classes of land suitability for settlement in Grogol subdistrict; and (c) the influences of the ground water salinity to the suitability of sattlement areas. This research put its emphasis on the geomorphological approach and uses lends units as the basis of its studt. The research area consists of four landform units and nine land units. From land unit maps, we can make the distribution maps of the ground water salinity and its influences to the suitability between settlement and the level suitability for settlement data. The ground water salinity data are obtained by measuring in the field and laboratory analysis. The result of this research shows that the distribution of the ground water salinity is located in the landform unit of the old floid and in the deposition processes. The distribution of the ground water salinity in the research area does not influence the growth pattern of settlement but influences the physical building.

Abstract

This study is carried out in chacthment area of Bodri. The goals of this study are to kno the influence of economic social condition of population on the change of the kind of landuse and the influence of the change of the kind of landuse on the run-off area. This study uses survey method. The collected data are the economic social data of the population and the physical condition data in the research area. The result of the study shows that the economic social condition of the population in chatchment area of Bodri influences on the decrease of landuse. The decrease in landuse is 22.27% which used settlement, dry land cultivation (3.14%), yard (1.07%), plantation (0.44%), wet land cultivation (2.28%), embankment (0.25%), street and others (6.73%). The decrease in landuse causes peak discharge of Hydrograph in 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2001 increases respectively 87.32 m/second, 101.26 m/second, 58.37 m/second, 89.82 m/second, with each volume of direct flow 7.123.392 m, 6.011.604 m, 11.784.672 m, and 9.459.954 m. The run-off coefficient in 1992, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2001 increase 7.7%, 13%, 19.8%, 23.2%, and 27.03%, with coefficient of annual flow 46.98%, 72%, 55.21%, 61,79%, and 75.55%. The increasing of the run-off coeficient and annual flow describes that the ratio both the discharge of maximum and minimum monthly flow becomes bigger. It means that in rainy season it will be flood immediately and in dry season it will be drought easily.

Abstract

Umbul Sungsang spring located in the foot of a Merapi is on shift zone between volcanic foot plain and fluvial volcanic fott plain constitutes spring belt. Up to the present, the population use that spring for drinking water and irrigation. The planning of taking water by Municipal Waterworks to supply Solo population causes people around it worried because the usually use that spring. Therefore it is needed to conduct a research to know the potential of that spring. The aim of this research is to account how much the need of drinking water, manucipal waterworks and irrigation and the potential of the spring which is available. The research uses survey method. Primary and secondary data are collected, analyzed quantitatively by using software aid to do simulation the need of irrigation. The result of the research shows that the need of drinking water is 0.068 lt/second/day taken in dry season; manucipal waterworks uses 200 lt/second/day and for irrigation is about 442.2 lt/second/day with the pattern rice – tobacco – rice. Irrigation is also supplied from Bendung Bukur Ireng. The result of the research also shows that in October period I, II, III, and November period II and I lack of water. Therefore municipal waterworks must not use water on Otober and November, while on July and September adjust to the rest of discharge of water, which is available. Its water quality fulfils the requirement for various needs.

Abstract

The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to take aerial photographs is increasing in recent years. Photo data taken by UAV become one of reliable detailed-scale  remote sensing data sources. The capability to obtain cloud-free images and the flexibility of time are some of the advantages of UAV photo data compared to satellite images with optical sensor. Displayed area at the data shows the objects clearly. Rural area has certain characteristics in its land cover namely ricefield. To delineate the area correctly there is an object-based image analysis methods (OBIA) that could be applied. In this  study, proposed a novel method to  execute the separation of objects that exist in the data with segmentation method. The result shows an effective segmentation method to separate different objects in rural areas recorded on UAV image data. The accuracy obtained is 90.47% after optimization process. This segmentation can be a valid basis to support the provision of spatial information in rural area.

Abstract

Rural population in Yogyakarta Special Province (DIY), in the last two decades, have shown dramatical changes in its quantity and quality. Depopulation is one of the interseting hanges which may considered as unique in term of its spatial distribution. Rural depopulation is a nebulous phenomenon which many factors, actors, and other  phenomenon are involved in shoping depopulation. It is related to socio – economic hanges such as a) shifting economic structure and labour in rural areas from agricultural to non – agriculture sectors; b) growing urban economy leads by industry which may creates employment opportunities and adsorb labours or migrants; c) improving social development related to technological innovation, accessibility and resource availability. Besides the sicio – economic factors, physical geographycal factors may influence to depopulation pattern.This paper is based on a secondary data research i.e. statistical data at rural levels in Yogyakarta, thematics maps and other documents. Statistical methodes and map pattern analysis are employed to analysis data. The result of this research are as follows: a) the rural depopulation in DIY can be found in 189 rural areas of 393 rural areas (48.09%); b) the spatial distribution of the rural depopulation are in Gunung Kidul District (80 rural areas), Kulon Progo District (59 rural areas) Sleman District (33 rural areas), and Bantul District (17 rural areas); c) the rural depopulation in Yogyakarta at least related to six factors whih have been identified as out – migration, local resources, carrying capacity, geographycal location or accessibility, rural infrastructure, and service availability.

Abstract

As a natural resource land has a strategic position in various development progress mainly as an infrastructure and means of settlement. At present it seems that land demand is getting increase adjusts to population growth and development rate. In connection to this question land problem has a close linkage in clay mining to obtain raw material of brick and tile. Clay as a manufactured raw material is usually extracted out from soil of agricultural field. Apparently, the clay mining has much changed physical and non physical condition, among others; lowering of land surface, reduction of soil fertility, micro relief changes, area constraction of groundwater charge supply, and there will be a decrease of flora and fauna variation at the operation area of the clay mining.

Abstract

The crowd of Yogyakarta urban has impacted its surrounding area, including Depok sub district, which is indicated by the rising of physical development, for example education facilities and settlements. The progress does not only bring positive impact, but also negative impact for instance the rising of crime number i.e. motor vehicle robbery. The aims of this research are 1) mapping motor vehicle robbery data as the distribution map and identifying motor vehicle robbery hot spot base on distrbution map; and 2) studying the correlation of motor vehicle robbery hot spot with physical environment phenomena, i.e. land use type and settlement pattern. The research method consists of two parts; they are motor vehicle robbery cluster analysis and the relation of motor vehicle robbery and physical environment analysis. Motor vehicle robbery cluster analysis is using distribution data, which analyzes the distribution into motor vehicle robbery hot spot with nearest neighbor tehnique. Contingency coefficient and frequency distribution analysis is used to analyze the correlation of motor vehicle robbery hot spot and physical environment. Contingency coefficient is used to study the relation of motor vehicle robbery hot spot polygon with physical environment condition, whereas frequency distribution is used to study the distribution of motor vehicle robbery in the hot spot with physical environment condition. Physical environment which consists of land use type, housing density, house regularity pattern, and the average of building size, are obtained from interpretation of black and white panchromatic aerial photograph year 2000, in the scale 1 : 20.000. the most motor vehicle robbery hot spot is found on the settlement area, 68,3% from 378 motor vehicle robbery cases in the hot spot. The seond level is found on the education area (16.4%). The most motor vehicle hot spot in the settlement is found on the hight density and irregular settlement, which have big size buildings. The calculation of contingency coefficient shows that there was a significant correlation between motor vehicle robbery hot spot with land use type and settlement pattern, but it has low correlation value. It means that land use type and settlement pattern have weak influence to the hot spot existence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the Erosion hazard, to look for conservation of bio - mechanical techniques are appropriate . Research methods with overlies topographic maps, soil maps, land use maps, to obtain a Land Unit Map. Determined soil physical properties (texture, structure, permeability) and chemical properties of soil (soil organic matter), slope, slope length, broad of land unit, crops factor and value conservation factors that have been there for Land Unit. Each land unit is determined the amount of land erosion and erosion hazard level. Erosion hazard level is determined based on soil erosion, and soil depth. Erosion hazzard level is used to determine the bio-mechanical conservation, according Hardjowigeno and Sukmana (1995). The results showed that the highest erosion hazard level with an area of 12.947 ha is classified weight (Land unit 15A), and the classification of an area of 14.665 ha is clssified moderately (Land unit 6A). Soil conservation is done in areas with highest erosion hazard level by making individual terraces and “kerandang” planted as a cover crops.

Abstract

The aim of the research are to measure the type of mass movement and landslide hazard zoning for settlement ite evaluation. Terrain unit and their characteristics are the main inputs. Terrain classification based on genetic, morphology, and lithology are important aspects in the mapping of terrain through aerial photo interpretation at scale 1 : 50.000. Sampling method is stratified random sampling. Data considered in this research consist of slope, soils, lithology, dissetion, lineament, land use, vegetation, morphometry of landslide. Laboratory analysis is done for soil physics determination. Scoring and addition method are applied in the landslide hazard zoning through GIS programme. The result of this research are that structural – denudational mountain unit shows highly landslide hazard with sil/debris slide, planar block slide as dominant processes, while in the structural – denudational hills and colluvial valley bottom and river terraces show moderately landslide hazard with soil/debris slide and soil creep as main processes and then in the peneplain and colluvial slope show low landslide hazard. The highly landslide hazard zone cover settlement at the area Krempong, Sucen, Karangseneng, Kedawung, and Margalelo.
