Abstract

This study is about how obsessed with life reflected in Rupert Sander’s Snow White and the Huntsman movie (2012) by using a psychoanalytic approach. The objectives of the study are to analyze the movie based on its structural elements and to analyze the movie based on psychoanalytic approach.The writer uses qualitative method for analyzing the movie. The object of the study is Snow White and the Huntsman movie’s (2012) by Rupert Sander. It will be analyzed through Psychoanalytic Approach. The primary data is taken from the movie itself and the secondary data sources are books or any information that are relevant to the subject matter. The techniques of collecting the data are watching the movie repeatedly, taking notes of important parts both primary and secondary data, arranging the data into several groups based on its theoretical category, selecting particular parts considered important and relevant for analysis, drawing conclusion and formulate its pedagogical suggestion. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis.      Based on the analysis, the researcher draws the following conclusions. First, based on the structural analysis of each element, it shows that the character and characterization, casting, plot, setting, point of view, theme, mise-en-scene, cinematography, sound, and editing are related to each other. Second, based on psychoanalytic analysis, it shows that Snow White and the Huntsman wants to convey a message that the people maximasize obsession in order to have a good experience of life.

Abstract

The research is proposed to analyze Esther Greenwood’s psychological conflicts in The Bell Jar novel by using Psychoanalytic Criticism. The major problem in this article is to explain how the psychological conflict is reflected in Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar.The object of study is The Bell Jar novel written by Sylvia Plath. Qualitative study is a method which is used to analyze the psychological conflicts reflected in the novel. The result of this study shows that in this novel Sylvia Plath illustrated a psychological phenomenon in which an individual encounters an inner conflict that requires resolution.

Abstract

This movie is true story of Elizabeth Gilbert’s life that adapted from her novel. This movie tells about Liz’s journey for a year that visit three counties to pursue her happiness. The research is proposed to analyze pursuing happiness of Liz Gilbert’s personalities in facing her depression with Psychoanalytic Approach. The objective of the study is to analyze the film based on the psychoanalytic approach. This study is a descriptive qualitative study, using the movie of Ryan Murphy’s Eat Pray Love. And Eat Pray Love’s major character as the object of analysis of the study. The researcher makes an analysis of Liz Gilbert’s id, ego, and superego. The researcher uses the theory of Psychoanalytic by Sigmund Freud because it is relevant to the problem. Based on the analysis, the outcome of this study shows the following conclusion. Firstly, there is a close relationship between a work of literature and Psychoanalysis Phenomena. Secondly, the general conclusion of psychoanalysis of humans is when people get desperate then they pursue the happiness.
