Bamban (Donax canniformis) is one of the biological resources that grow in the swampy areas and has been used by the community as a raw material in the form of woven handicrafts. Bamban bark that used as raw material woven texture is hard and the surface was very slippery so hard to make. This study was conducted to determine the nature of the characteristics of stem Bamban and determine the effectiveness of the stabilizers PEG 1000 and tannin from extract acacia bark in improving the quality of physical and mechanical properties strands of Bamban. Treatments include immersion with PEG 1000 and acacia bark tannins for 2 hours. Results of the study the effectiveness of treatments of soaking the material stabilizers PEG 1000 and tannins from extract acacia bark all of them can improve the physical and mechanical properties of raw material of Bamban woven handicraft and make it easier for artisans in the process of weaving due to the treated material can make more limp strands of Bamban and not to stiff, in addition to making the product brighter and more attractive. Keywords : bamban, physical properties , mechanical  properties

The research about utilization of extracts areca nuts (Areca catechu L.) as natural dye on sasirangan using whiting mordan 1% (w/v) was carried out. The results showed that the extract of areca nuts can be used as a dye on sasirangan with the types of cloth ware cotton, silk, semi-silk and the colour was red guava. The dye yield of areca nuts was resulted in 34.43%. The optimum mass of natural dye on cotton was adsorbed about 1,90% in the concentration of dye solution 1:50 (g/mL), on silk about 0,46% in the concentration of dye solution 1:100 (g/mL), and on semi-silk about 0,64% in the concentration of dye solution 1:75 (g/mL). The quality color fastnessin detergents 1% were showed the best value on cotton about 23% in the concentration of dye solution 1:50 (g/mL), on silk about 66% in the concentration of dye solution 1:75 (g/mL), and on semi-silk about 34% in the concentration of dye solution 1:100 (g/mL). The results of dray and wet brush resistance showeda good values for all treatment with the avaregge staining scale values were 3-4. The qualities of color intensity for cotton and silk showed that the higher mordant concentration, washing fastness becomes better, and color is deeper. The quality of color intensity optimum for semi-silk was showed in the concentration of dye solution 1:75 (g/mL). The optimal result for cotton is in the used of day solution 1: 100 (g/mL), silk 1:75 (g/mL), and semi-silk 1:75 (g/mL) which the whiting mordant concentration was used 1% for all treatment. Keywords: arace nuts (Areca catechu L.), whiting mordant, sasirangan dyeing

Palm shell waste has not been used optimally. Utilization can be as fuel in the form of biobriquette. The purpose of this research studied the effects of pressure hydraulic and adhesive concentration on biobriquette properties. Research includes palm shell crushed, screened with fineness 7 mesh, mixed with amylum adhesive solution 2.5% and 5%. Printed in diameter of 3 cm and a height of 7 cm. The emphasis with the pressure of 3 tons, 5 tons and 7 tons. Biobriqutte dried naturally. Quality analysis with refers to the National Standardization Agency (1994). Results pressure 3 tons and adhesive concentration of 5% produces the best with sulfur levels of negative value and calorific 4442.78 cal / g and qualify for household fuels. Treatment interactions pressure and concentration of adhesive very significant effect on moisture, ash, carbon, volatile matter content, density and compressive strengtth biobriqutte. Keywords:  palm shell, consentration of adhesive, pressure hydraulics, biobriquette

This study aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of coconut trunks based on 4 factors of acacia bark extract concentrations (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and the percentage of reduction in thickness (0%, 30%, 40%, 50%). The results showed that the average value of coconut wood moisture content is not compacted relatively higher compare to the average levels of condensed water. The average value of the coconut wood density was not relatively lower compared to the average density of the compacted. The average value of MOR and MOE coconut wood once compacted experience increased with coconut wood are not compressed. But all the values MOR coconut wood on this study is classified into strong wood class V. From the results of this study concluded that the process of compacting the coconut wood and soaking treatment using the extract of acacia bark may increase the value of physical and mechanical properties of coconut wood. Coconut wood compaction technology can be utilized as a substitute for wood raw materials but can not be used to hold the load. Keywords : coconut wood, physical properties, mechanical properties

Melaleuca sp. very abundant in South Kalimantan and mostly used as firewood. Utilization of wood vinegar now it has expanded, including as a food preservative. This is because it contains with phenolic compounds, carbonyl and acid compounds which useful as antimicrobial, antioxidant, forming smell, flavor and color. This study purpose to know influence of concentration and soaking time wood vinegar of Melaleuca sp on organoleptic and microbiological salted eggs. This research used randomized block design with two factors,  that is concentration of wood vinegar and soaking time. The best result based on the parameters accordance with SNI 01-2891-1992 about salted egg, obtained in 3 weeks storage at room temperature with a 10% concentration ofand soaking time 1 hour. Results obtained by the value of flavor is 4.00; color 3.90; appearance 3.90; salt 4,500%; negative Salmonella and Staphyloccocus 0 colonies g.Keywords: wood vinegar, Melaleuca Cajuput, food preservative, salted eggs

The rubber seeds (Hevea brasiliensis) can be used because rubber seed contains a high fat or oil contain so that it can be utilized as being edible oil. However, the problem is the presence of Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) toxic compound in the rubber seeds which is so dangerous. Cyanide acid it can be reduces with soaking and boiling process. The purpose of this research were to known quality of rubber seeds. Rubber seeds oil was produced after HCN content was reduced. Mean yield of rubber seeds was 20,13%. Quality testing is done with a few key parameters on which oil fatty acid composition, acid number, peroxide number and iodine number. Total saturated fatty acid content was 14.1% and an unsaturated fatty acid was 85.9%, the mean value of the acid number was 4.19 mgKOH / g, peroxide value MeqO 11.17 / kg and iodine number of 140 g iodine / 100 g. These results indicate that good quality oil for edible oils when compared with the standard. Keywords : rubber seeds, rubber seeds oil, edible oil
