KARSA is a peer-reviewed national journal published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri Madura. It has been nationally accredited SINTA 2 since 2017 by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia. It is published twice a year (June and December). It publishes articles of research results, applied theory studies, social issues, cultural studies, and Islamic culture issues. The aim of KARSA is to disseminate cutting-edge research that explores the interrelationship between social studies and (including) culture. The journal has scope and seeks to provide a forum for researchers interested in the interaction between social and cultural aspects across several disciplines. The journal publishes quality, original and state-of-the-art articles that may be theoretical or empirical in orientation and that advance our understanding of the intricate relationship between social science and culture. KARSA accepts manuscript with a different kind of languages are Indonesian, English, Arabic, or French.

In facing the era of industrialization and globalizationn, Islamic education faces several challenges and problems that are caused by the changes of global-industry sociaety. Abstract

Abstrac Madura ethnic posseses cultural values. Those values are implemented in terms of thought, behavior, attitude, and action. They characterize Madueres life philosophically. Modernization is an era in which science and technology become the premier requirements of any activities. It goes beyond time and place. Suramadu bridge is one of its products that will take Madura to the era of industrialization and globalizaton. As a result, all Madurese must be ready to be the host, player, as well as the pointer of Madura development. The preparation and the enhancement of both quality and quantity of human resources are a must to be facilitated. Cultural approach is still considered important to anticipate indutrialization during the development of Madura, in order to place Madurese as a respectable ethnic. Abstract

Abstrac This simple artcile is not about to provoke Madurese people to deny the industrialization as the impact of Madura bridge establishment. However, theoretically the presence of industry causes social impact. The social conflict and dehumanisation (including marginalization and impoverishment) will be immediately occured if the industrialization process does not involve the role of the stakeholders entirely and consistantly. Suramadu bridge is built in attempt to increase Madurese economic potency. Abstract

Abstrac From the perspective of industrialization policy, the characterization of Madurese is comprehended as two different kinds of things. It seems that they diametrichally post in the distinctive area. This comprehension clearly misleads and shallowize the essence of Madura industrialization. This article is to find a holisctic understanding on Madura industrialization with characterization as an absolut constitutive element. This is also the reflection of the writer using an object formal approach of characterization theory issued by Alfred North Whitehead. The research source of material object has been the entire thought, comprehension, and Madura industrialization meaning from the writer’s perspective. The results indicates that the characterization of Madurese is tightly connected to personality, identity and the uniqueness of Madurese in interacting with the environment--- religious values, hard-wroker, life survivor, and straight forwarder. The strategical plan must be established on the basis of those characterizations. To seperate diametrichally that characterization with the policy of industrialization is truly marginalized the Madurese. Otherwise, it could be inferred a genocide process against Madurese characterization done gradually from the extreme perspective. Abstract

Abstrac Industry requires competition and competencies. The former is kind of race or contest to allow people to gain the objective, however the latter is an individual skill or capability to gain the objective. Competition goes around social room, therefore competence is a part of individual resource. The social and individual chambers are free from gender, both man and woman have an equal opportunity to reach the individual expected wish. Only those who are able to win the social sphere fight that could be a part of indutrialization, nevertheless those who are not will be left behind. Thus, Madurese woman challenges the fight agains traditional bond which close to social and religious norm and industrial bond which relies on rationality. Based on the fact, industry becomes a social room for Madurese woman. Indeed, this article would view the reality that cannot be avoided by woman---the reality of how the tradition, as social sphere gives meaning on the woman role and how the women fight becomes an important part of them. Abstract

Abstrac Keberadaan jembatan Suramadu, sangat menjanjikan bagi kelangsungan hidup masyarakat Madura untuk kedepannya. Karenanya, industrialisasi dipastikan akan tumbuh berkembang di pulau garam ini. Namun demikian,disisi lain--selain perkembangannya--dampak negatifnya tak dapat dinafikan akan turut mewarnai Madura. Dalam persoalan ini, kondisi Madura yang menunjukkan banyaknya pondok pesantren, terlebih sejauh ini sudah diasosiasikan sebagai masyarakat yang religius agamis (Islam), kondisi yang demikian, sejatinya sangat relevan sebagai modal dasar dalam rangka membentengi nilai-nilai luhur kearifan lokal dari ekses negatif globalisasi dan modernisasi. Sejalan dengan itu, pemerintah daerah hendaknya dapat merekontruksi kebijakan yang pro budaya lokal, dengan cerdas dan kritis dalam menyikapi perkembangan industrialisasi nantinya. Selanjutnya, masih dalam tulisan berikut, akan disuguhkan sejumlah agenda prioritas pemerintah dalam upaya membangun Madura dalam rangka menyongsong datangnya era industrialisasi tersebut. Karena sesungguhnya, hakekat dari pencapaian pembangunan secara menyeluruh di Madura ke depan, adalah untuk menumbuh-kembangkan seluruh potensi yang ada. Abstract

Abstrac Kehadiran Jumbatan Suramadu di samping mempercepat transportasi dari Surabaya ke Madura atau sebaliknya, juga diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif khususnya bagi peningkatan taraf hidup masyarakat Madura. Tulisan ini mencoba untuk menjelaskan dampak positif adanya Jembatan Suramadu dengan tiga kemungkinan, yaitu : [1] keberadaan Jembatan Suramadu tidak memberikan dampak apa-apa selain terjadinya perubahan alat dan tempat transportasi, [2] dengan keberadaan Jembatan Suramadu, masyarakat Madura mengalami dampak positif berupa perkembangan ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya, dan [3] keberadaan Jembatan Suramadu secara revolusioner memberikan dampak yang sangat signifikan bagi perkembangan masyarakat Madura, khususnya di bidang ekonomi. Untuk mendapatkan dampak positif tersebut, tulisan ini menyuguhkan beberapa pendekatan, yaitu : pendekatan agama dan pendidikan, pendekatan sosio kultural, pendekatan ekonomi, pendekatan politik dan kekuasaan.
