Abstract

Some things are concerns in this study is to see what factors are the main attraction for people of PNG to spend their money in Indonesia (Skow-Wutung market), so the business man in downtown Jayapura initiative to trade with the people of PNG directly in the region border. Obviously with dependencies on Indonesian products, directly open opportunity for Indonesia to market their national products and local products, so that people on the border of the State was able to improve its economic status. This research using SWOT analysis to found what Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Treats faced in border area development. The result of this analysis found that border area in District Muara Tami is at 1st Quadrant, that means aggressive growth in the region can be achieved by using the strengths and opportunities that exist, Although there are weaknesses and threats but do not close the opportunity for the development of the trade sector to grow in this region even though they are still informal.Keywords: Cross-Border Trade, SWOT Analysis

Abstract

The process of empowerment against poverty is a matter of humanity. The development of unbalanced cause social inequality, economic and political, both between countries, between regions, and between communities. Solving the problem of poverty should be based on a sound understanding of poor people themselves and their respect, protection and fulfillment of their basic rights.. With the guidance of Community Empowerment Board and Village Government (BPM-PD) Tulungagung, then on Monday, May 5th, 2014 formed village-owned enterprises (BUMDES) "WAHANA LESTARI". Subjects in this study were people who entered the category of Poor Households (RTM) in the village of Babadan as the main target of BUMDes also help some board of BUMDes Babadan village as the party most understand BUMDes program. The results showed that the implementation of this program has successfully overcome the problems of rural communities Babadan about capital needs for the community, especially for poor households category at least during the last year of the period May 2014 until 2015 April with business units are considered very helpful community of the need of capital to rural economies and societies can be lifted gradually.Keywords: BUMDes, Community Financial Institutions, poor households (RTM).

Abstract

This study used qualitative methods. Results of the study according to the character of the social and economic character of migrant workers in the District Selorejo, seen from the social character of the findings include: (i) the individual's motivation to migrate become migrant workers because of the network of migrant strong as one form of social networks have an important role for a person is a migrant worker as well as with regard to the network region is the main attraction of migrant workers; (ii) an individual becomes a migrant worker motivation due to the non-physical investments, in this case the education of children; (iii) the existence of the phenomenon of social deviation migrant workers which should have gone into improving the welfare of migrant workers, but it is the case for divorce in the family, it is as a result can not interpret the departure of a migrant worker. Then, the findings with regard to economic character, among others, include: (i) In the middle of difficulty of the opportunity to work in the area of origin prompting one wishes to go abroad unruk employment; (ii) With a relatively small income, making the motivation for someone to leave a migrant worker; (iii) The desire to strengthen the capital side in order for business development;Keywords: Social Character, Character Economy, Migration

Abstract

Agriculture sector will be adversly affected by climate change. And as a sector that absorbs the majority of  Indonesia’s employment impacts may be substantial. As the hydrological cycle is likely to be influenced b global warming, agriculture sector will have to adapt to this change. Moreover the impact on agriculture is closely linked to food security. The study aims to describe the climate change to Indonesia farmers that will result from the improved climate change management information in farming. The method used to analyze the climate change effect is descriptive method which presents economic data. The result shows that climate change reduce paddy filed and shifted the wet and dry seasons in many regions in Indonesia. The results of the study can be used by policy makers and the agencies involved in climate change information management.Keywords: climate change, farming, paddy field.

Abstract

Rural plays role as a supporting area for urban. Rural’s main activity is agriculture and natural resources explotation. In recent years, agricultural sector in rural area has been kicked out by other sectors.The implication is there is a shift in employment. This condition will influence income distribution in rural areas and then affects education sector. The research’s method is descriptive quantitative using secondary data provided by Indonesian Statistic Bureau (BPS). The change in rural’s economy pattern is proxied by population aged 15 years or over who work by main industry. Education’s quality is proxied by enrollment rate. The result of this research are: (1). There is  positive relationship between the decreasing number of employment rate in agricultural sector and better income distribution in rural areas. (2). Better income distribution drives to higher enrollment rate. The recommendation is education sould be developed better in order to prevent employee to work in sectors other than agriculture.Keywords: rural, agriculture, education, enrollment rate

Abstract

Farming activity is not uncommon anymore for Indonesian people, especially for duck farming. Duck farming businesses are increasingly in demand as an alternative source of income for people in rural and peri-urban. Tawangrejo village Turi district, is one of the village in Lamongan in which the majority of communities maintain a duck as a profit-making business. This research approach is qualitative approach. The subjects were a group of SMEs business of Sumber Rejeki. These results indicate that the production strategies conducted by Sumber Rejeki group still basic and not in accordance with the existing potential in the Sumber Rejeki group itself as the potential of ecosystems that support, as well as high social capital. Limited land and the multiple roles of the housewife as the constrain is a major problem. Other obstacles that could hamper the productivity of farmers in the Sumber Rejeki group include limited capital, limited human resources, networking, as well as duck diseases. SMEs’ activitie of Sumber Rejeki is a form of local economic development through the utilization of the agricultural sector and the empowerment of women. The business development strategies that could be advised of the researcher are: (1) the ease of access to capital, (2) infrastructure support, (3) development of business scale, (4) development of business networks, marketing and business partnership, and (5) development of human resources.Keywords: Production, Constraint, Developing Strategy

Abstract

Income inequality is a problem that exists in every country and a problem that continually occurs. Government, particularly in Indonesia, faced with the problems to reduce income inequality, this is because the trend of income inequality has not decreased lately, so it is feared affect the welfare of the Indonesian people. This study aimed to assess the effect of the Agricultural Sector GDP, GDP Industrial Sector, Services Sector GDP, wages Minimimum Province, Capital Expenditure and Investment Credits to Income Inequality in Indonesia in 2005 until 2014, using panel data regression. In this study the functional form of the regression model used is the model of a log-log or better known as double log, so that can know the elasticity of each independent variable on the dependent variable. The results achieved in this study, one of them is, it was found that the independent variables significantly affect income inequality with a negative effect, except variable Industrial Sector GDP. While elasticity, each independent variable inelastic to income inequality. Advanced Research also found that, according to some previous research, by improving the economic structure, raise funds for infrastructure investments multiply, increasing the minimum wage, or reduce migration can reduce the level of income inequality.Keywords: Income inequality, Regression Panel Data, Regional Economic Structures, Government Spending, Minimum Wage

Abstract

In an effort to encourage the development of SMEs in Indonesia is required funding one of which is cooperative. The background of this study was to determine the effect LPDB loans granted by the cooperative to members who need loan funds In this study the role of cooperatives as conduits LPDB loan is needed to simplify the process of lending LPDB. Subjects in this study is the Women's Cooperative “Setia Budi Wanita” East Java and its object is the independent variable in this study that LPDB loans (Revolving Fund Management Institution). This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection techniques used in this research is the snowball sampling technique used in determining the subject to be interviewed. These results indicate that the role of Women's Cooperative Business Solutions Business “Setia Budi Wanita” East Java in lending LPDB (Institute of Management Revolving Fund) had a positive effect for cooperative members who borrow loans LPDB (Institute of Management Revolving Fund), especially for the self-employed and the factors driving and obstacles in lending LPDB.Keywords: Cooperative,  LPDB  (Institute  of  Management  Revolving  Fund), SMEs

Abstract

This research was to describe the government implementation of economic tourism policy and its impact on community through empowerment program in Batu City. As one of new autonomus region in east java, Batu City use geographic advantages that is concern in tourism sector to raise region economic development. Using qualitative fenomenology approach to analize. There are two strategic policy in Batu City that implementing in tourism development, first is conventional paradigm policy and then sustainable paradigm policy. Each implementation of the policy has brought different consequences and impact on development in Batu City. As a result, emerging programs aimed at improving the development of tourism to reduce conflicts that can occur and to increase community participation as empowerment through community based tourism concept, increasing the role of local SMEs and creating city branding called "Shining Batu". Success in community development in the area of tourism is determined from the role of stakeholders, and therefore required a synergy mindset and active participation of all entity to realize the welfare of society in Batu City.Keywords: tourism, government policy, community empowerment
