Abstract

This study aims to reveal construction process of visual learning type student in learning biology. We employ qualitative method to disclose the subject’s learning process. The process ofknowledge construction was observed through observation, structured interview, and literaturereview. This research describes that the research subjects construct knowledge through theprocess of assimilation & accommodation. The form of knowledge construction demonstrate thatstudent’s knowledge were on the dimensions of factual knowledge, conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, and metacognitif knowledge. That knowledge is constructed randomlythrough disequilibrium process to equilibration.

Abstract

A set of syllabus and lesson plans of science chemistry charaterizing group investigation (GI) model andenvironment as learning resources for 7th-grade students of SMP has been developed. The development theproduct was intended to design an active and joyful instructional process for 7th-grade students of SMP inlearning science chemistry. The procedure of the development adopted Hannafin and Peck model that consists ofthree phases. This model was started with a need assessment and analysis (phase 1), then was designing process(phase 2), and finally development and implementation in a real teaching (phase 3). According to experts thedeveloped products are characterized by GI with environmental media. The result of research showed that theproducts could improve student’s activities in learning process.

Abstract

Research and development of interactive multimedia development model is adapted from Lee & Owens;the steps were analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of learningmaterials proportion analysis based curriculum: tissues: organs: totipotensi was 40%: 40%: 20%. Theresults of need analysis of science process skills indicated that students are lack of ability in terms ofgrouping and concluding skill. The analysis also reveals that students need multimedia, which isinteresting and aesthetics. In the design phase, developers create a storyboard based on the results of theanalysis. In development stage, we input all information in storyboard to the media. According to mediaexperts, the product is scored well and very well. Trials phase is conducted in a small groups and largegroups. The results of tests shows that the skills of students increased from 69.34 to 89.30, and knowledgeof students also increased from 75.7 to 91.9. The effectiveness of interactive multimedia structure andfunction of plant tissue seen by the changes in knowledge, performance, and the positive response ofstudents using interactive multimedia and facilitate students doing science process skills.

Abstract

Problems in learning chemistry in MAN Cendekia Jambi are the students’ grade still below theminimum completeness criteria, one way direction learning from the teacher to the students and thelack of students participation. The study aims to determine the effect of the use of interactivemultimedia, non interactive multimedia, and students learning interest on chemistry competence ofMAN Jambi students. This study uses quasi-experimental study with factorial design (3x2). The resultsshow that: 1) there are differences in the chemistry competence of students using interactivemultimedia, non-interactive multimedia, and white board media, 2) there is no difference in thechemical competence between students of high interest learning and low interest learning, and 3) thereis no interaction between media and student learning interests.

Abstract

Learning process in SMPN 5 Jambi is still dominated by the behavior paradigm with low learning outcomes. This study aims to reveal the significance of the student-centered learning, using quasi-experimental design. Weemployed research instrument of science process skills test results and creativity questionnaire. The collecteddata were analyzed using ANOVA and Tuckey test. The results, there was no significant of the effect of theinvestigation group model and creativity on science process skills (p = 0.083). The results also indicate theinteraction between group investigation model and science process skills (p = 0.03). The teacher applies thegroup investigation model for high creativity students.
