Abstract

This research aims to exploratively describe the characteristics of archive management at UIN SMH Banten. The characteristics referred to are the percentage of manual or digital archive management. There is also an explanation of the many static and dynamic archives managed at UIN SMH Banten. Apart from the percentages at the archive management stage, several obstacles faced by archivists in managing archives at UIN SMH Banten were also discussed. To obtain valid and credible data, questionnaires, interviews and documentation were used. The informants in this research were all archivists who were tasked with managing archives at UIN SMH Banten. From the results of data collection and analysis, it was found that archive management is generally carried out manually and digitally. Even though archives have been managed manually and digitally, archive management is still dominated by manual methods. The archives that are mostly managed by archivists at UIN SMH Banten are dynamic archives. Digitally managed archives are not yet fully integrated at the university level. Meanwhile, archives that are managed manually are still not in accordance with the archive management classification. One of the obstacles to archival management at UIN SMH Banten is the lack of archival facilities and infrastructure which results in problems with digital archive integration.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the process and obstacles in implementing an eprints-based digital library for the development of an institutional repository in the Mataram College of Tourism (STP) library. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. Data sources use primary data and secondary data. Meanwhile, data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation and data analysis techniques use Data Reduction. Display (Data Presentation), and Conclusion Drawing/verification. The research results show that the application of Eprint was initiated by the Mataram Tourism College (STP) Library so that the Mataram Tourism College (STP) institutional repository was included in the webometric ranking of higher education repositories and to increase webometric ranking of the Mataram College of Tourism (STP) from the aspect of higher education rankings. In implementing EPrints as repository software there are several things that need to be prepared such as hardware, software and human resources (HR) who will operate the repository. Computer servers and networks used in repository management requires large and smooth network bandwidth because repository management with Eprints software is done online. The Mataram College of Tourism (STP) institutional repository contains 4 external entities which have their respective roles and are interconnected with each other, namely the administrator section, the editor section, the student user section, the user section (public). The features contained in this system really help librarians in managing students' final assignments/thesis.

Abstract

The use of technology in the form of e-library applications, especially e-books, is an important element in increasing digital literacy among educators and students. Utilization of electronic books (E-books) as a user activity in searching for and accessing necessary information through e-library applications. E-book utilization refers to the way users search for the information they need. The aim of this research is to determine the use of e-books in e-library applications in increasing digital literacy of users. This research uses a descriptive analysis method with a qualitative approach. Observation, interviews and documentation as data collection methods. The use of e-books in e-library applications also contributes to increasing ease of access to information and the level of digital literacy for users. Users use e-books to support the learning, work, research and self-development processes. According to the author, the use of e-books at the Muhamadiyah Bengkulu University Library UPT is still less than optimal, the existing collections in the e-library application are still relatively limited or not diverse, this is due to the limited budget of the library unit so that users cannot make maximum use of e-books. So with this, it is hoped that in the future librarians will make every effort to increase the collection of library materials, as well as carry out promotions so that readers can maximize the use of e-books and utilize them effectively.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of embedded Librarians as information professionals. Embedded librarian is someone who is proactive in providing library services in information retrieval and understands the information needs of its users. The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has also had a significant impact on education and research. However, the abundance of information sources is sometimes a problem for students or researchers who must choose and use appropriate and accurate sources of information. The Embedded Librarian concept refers to librarians who are actively involved in a particular group, build deep relationships with the group, and provide information services tailored to their needs. The method used is a systematic study with a qualitative approach, and selected articles sourced from Google Scholar and OnlineDatabase subscribed to the Library of the University of Indonesia http://remote-lib.ui.ac.id/). The analysis process consists of 6 (six) stages, namely 1) field mapping through scope review; 2) comprehensive search; 3) quality assessment; 4) data extraction; 5) synthesis; and 6) writing. The majority of the journal articles studied discussed the roles and activities of embedded librarians. This research provides a broader understanding of the development of information professionals and how the role of the Embedded Librarian evolves as information and technology evolves. This research also provides guidance on the skills and competencies required to become an effective Embedded Librarian. In practice, Embedded Librarian activities can be adapted to the environment and needs of the clients served, so as to provide relevant and effective information support
