Abstract

An essential component of the educational system, learning evaluation measures the success of the teaching and learning process as well as the attainment of learning objectives. Evaluation plays a strategic role in Arabic language learning because it covers the four primary language skills-istima‘ (listening), kalam (speaking), qira‘ah (reading), and kitabah (writing)-in addition to evaluating mastery of cognitive components like mufradat (vocabulary) and qawa‘id (grammar). In addition to explaining the goals, purposes, and forms of evaluation pertinent to Arabic language instruction, this article attempts to theoretically investigate the ideas of evaluation, assessment, and measurement in the context of learning the language. The study's findings demonstrate the need for a thorough assessment of Arabic language acquisition that takes into account the cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor domains and makes use of a variety of tools in order to characterize students' overall communicative proficiency.

Abstract

This study examines the order of clause words in Arabic found in the sha'irs of Abu Nawas, a famous poet from the Abbasid period. The main objective of this research is to understand the syntactic structure and how the order of words in clauses is used to convey complex and aesthetic meanings in classical Arabic poetry. In this study, a syntactic typological approach was used to analyze the data. This approach allows researchers to compare syntactic patterns in Arabic with those of other languages, as well as to understand the specific characteristics that distinguish the syntactic structure of Arabic. The research data was taken in the form of Arabic clauses or sentences in the verse of Abu nawas. And the source of the data is obtained from the utterances contained in the verse, which is then analyzed in depth to identify the most dominant word order patterns and prominent syntactic characteristics. Data collected from the Sha'ir Abu Nawas shows that in Arabic, the order of words in sentences is very flexible but has a dominant pattern that most sentences follow. In declarative and imperative sentences, the V-S-O pattern is very dominant, while in interrogative and ismiyyah sentences, the S-V-O and O-V-S patterns are also found. These patterns show that Arabic allows for variations in word order to suit the meaning and focus desired by the writer or poet. This shows the flexibility and structural beauty of the Arabic language, especially in classical poetry.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mastery of Arabic vocabulary among seventh-grade students of SMP Islam Plus Daarul Arqam due to learning that was still monotonous and teacher-centered. This condition indicates the need for an innovative, engaging, and interactive learning medium. The research focused on developing an Arabic Monopoly game as a learning medium, assessing its feasibility, and testing its effectiveness in improving vocabulary mastery. The objective of the study was to produce a feasible and effective learning medium. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D model, consisting of the stages of Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. The results showed that the developed medium was highly feasible, with a media expert validation score of 97.5% and a material expert score of 93.75%, as well as a teacher response of 88.89%. The effectiveness of the medium was demonstrated by an improvement in learning outcomes from pre-test to post-test of 98.07%, with an N-gain value of 0.9808 categorized as high. Therefore, the Monopoly game is effective in improving students’ mastery of Arabic vocabulary.

Abstract

In education, teachers play a very important role in designing learning activities to engage students and ensure that learning objectives are conveyed effectively. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of Arabic writing in students studying calligraphy. This study was conducted at the Al-Faiz Islamic boarding school in Medan. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach and data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews. Observations were conducted on twenty female students in grade X at the Al-Faiz Islamic Boarding School in Medan. Based on an interview with calligraphy teacher Ustadz Abimanyu, "In calligraphy learning, there are many types and styles of calligraphy that need to be learned, not to mention the differences in letter shapes, curves, and angles when writing. In addition, the students come from various school backgrounds, which makes the main focus how to increase students' interest in learning calligraphy, so that interesting and non-monotonous methods are needed so that students do not get bored easily." The impact on education is that it can train writing skills (maharah kitabah). The results of the study indicate that calligraphy instruction at this school can be considered quite effective, as evidenced by the improvement in the quality of students' Arabic writing.
