Abstract

This study explored Ethiopian Technical and Vocational Training Institute English teachers' perceptions and practices of student-centered learning. The interviews and observations results revealed positive teacher attitudes towards student-centered approaches, but classroom practices often remained teacher-centered and reliant on textbooks, disregarding student interests. Challenges included a lack of practical implementation skills, conflicting summative assessments, and the need for continuous formative feedback. Bridging the conceptual-practical divide requires practice-integrated professional development and flexible policies to support autonomy and experience-driven curricula. These findings contribute to understanding contextual realities and refining alignment with evolving workforce demands through ongoing improvement and localized responsiveness.

Abstract

Learning media is a tool that can be used to convey or transmit messages from the sender to the receiver. Concrete learning media, such as math manipulatives, are tools that allow students to learn concretely through the use of physical objects that they can hold, see, and utilize in the learning process so that students are not easily bored during the learning process. The use of concrete learning media can provide motivation to students during the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using magic sticks in improving the understanding of counting operations in grade 2 elementary school students. The type of research used was a pseudo experiment. The population of this study was class II which amounted to 27 students. The sampling technique used saturated sampling which uses all members of the population as samples. Data were collected through the implementation of pretest and posttest tests. The validity of the instrument was measured using validity and reliability. With data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test and T test. The results showed an increase in grades after using magic stick media on grade II students of SD Negeri 1 Sukorame. The hypothesis proposed has been accepted based on the results of the T test which shows the t value of 5.669 is greater than the t table value of 2.056. It is proven that the use of magic sticks in the math learning process can improve student learning outcomes at SD Negeri 1 Sukorame.

Abstract

As a SEAMEO Centre with a mandate to enhance the competence of science teachers and educational personnel in Southeast Asia, SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS) consistently develops programs in line with the current trends in education, one of which is STEM Education. Using a descriptive method, this article aims to provide an overview of the STEM program developed by SEAQIS and its implementation in Indonesia from 2016 to 2023. There are 92 SEAQIS programs related to enhancing the competence of science teachers and educational personnel in STEM learning in Indonesia, with a total of 8,388 participants. Overall, from 2016 to 2023, SEAQIS has been able to provide competence enhancement services in STEM learning to science teachers and educational personnel in 35 provinces in Indonesia, with the majority of participants (59.41%) coming from West Java province.

Abstract

This research aims to explore variations in student learning outcomes in Citizen Science Project (CSP) based biodiversity learning. The research method uses qualitative with a phenomenological approach to detail students' holistic experiences and understand the essence of the products produced. This research design was carried out by combining interviews, observation and analysis of student products as the main data sources. The research was carried out in one of the schools in Bandung City. The research results showed that students produced a variety of products, including herbariums, posters, posts on the PlantNet application, and inventory books. The overall product reflects a deep understanding of biodiversity and the use of a variety of skills, such as classification, identification and communication. CSP-based learning design makes a major contribution to the variety of learning outcomes because students are not only involved in collecting scientific data but are also able to express their findings through different media. This research provides new insights regarding the potential and effectiveness of CSP-based biodiversity learning in stimulating creativity and variations in students' learning outcomes. The findings of this research can be the basis for developing more innovative learning methods oriented towards developing students' skills in the context of sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
