Abstract

Multi-representation ability is one of the important skills to be developed. One of them is because it can play a role in helping students master the material being taught. In science subjects, one of the materials that uses quite diverse forms of representation is simple planes. This shows that there is a possibility that students' multi-representation abilities will affect students' understanding of the material. In addition, another factor that can influence is the adversity quotient of students. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the students' multi-representation ability on simple plane material in terms of Adversity Quotient Aspects. The research method used is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII G UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Bangkalan with a total of 30 students. The research instrument used was a multi-representation ability test and interview guidelines. The results of this study are the high category of multi-representation abilities consisting of 4 students, the medium category consisting of 22 students, and the low category consisting of 4 students with an average test score of 58.33. The results of the interview show that students' multi-representation abilities and understanding of simple plane materials support and influence each other. Students with multi-representation abilities and good understanding of the material can easily understand the questions given and can also give correct answers, thus obtaining high test scores. owever, the adversity quotient is not always directly proportional to student test results.

Abstract

Research problems: (1) is role playing effective to improve emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years?, (2) is there a difference in emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years before and after role playing?, Research objectives: (1) describe increasing emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years through role playing, (2) describing the differences in emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years before and after role playing. The type of research used is quasi-experimental research or quasi-experimental design. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that statistically after being calculated using SPSS 16.0 for windows there is an effective influence of role playing on the emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years, this can be seen based on the results of calculations using SPSS 16.0 for windows by comparing between the t value resulting from t count with the t table value. From the table it is known that the value of the Independent Sample t-test (tcount) is 14,331 and the t table is 2,160 with a p value of 0.000. Because the t-count value t-table or ip value 0.05, it is said that there is an average difference between the emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years in the experimental group and the control group. So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is an effective influence of role playing on the emotional intelligence of children aged 5-6 years and there is a difference before and after role playing on children's emotional intelligence after being calculated using the paired sample test t test with the result 0.00 0.05 then Ha is accepted at TK Muslimat NU Masyithoh 08 Kramatsari Pekalongan City. Besides, the results of the research that the researchers have done can be concluded that role playing can improve the emotional intelligence of children in TK Muslimat NU Masyithoh 08 Kramatsari Pekalongan City.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology has significantly impacted the way educators collaborate, providing numerous digital platforms that facilitate sharing ideas, developing plans, and evaluating outcomes. In Indonesia, however, the implementation of collaborative writing (CW) among teachers has received limited attention. This study aims to explore how Google Drive and WhatsApp can be effectively utilized to support collaborative writing among teachers. Google Drive was employed for planning, editing, writing, and revising collaborative papers, while WhatsApp served as a communication tool for interaction, negotiation, confirmation, and decision-making. The paper presents the findings of this collaborative process, focusing on the strategies and outcomes of using these applications in an educational context. The results demonstrate the potential of digital tools to enhance collaborative efforts among teachers, offering a model for improving collaboration in professional learning communities. This paper contributes to the understanding of technology-supported collaborative writing practices, particularly in the context of Indonesian education.

Abstract

The Author’s Chair, a key component of the writer’s workshop model, provides students with the opportunity to present their written work orally, thus promoting both speaking and writing skills This activity is widely recognized for its potential to build students' confidence and enhance their speaking abilities. The theoretical framework underlying the Author's Chair is socio-constructivism, which views learning as a social process where knowledge is co-constructed through interactions with others. Socio-constructivism emphasizes the importance of social interactions in learning, where thought evolves from societal exchanges to individual understanding. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of the Author’s Chair in a kindergarten setting and to explore how this method contributes to improving young learners' speaking skills. The participants were K-2 (TK-8) students at a preschool in South Jakarta. The research employed three observation sessions, including video recordings, to examine the impact of the Author’s Chair on the students' speaking abilities. Additionally, interviews were conducted with teachers to gather their feedback on the implementation and effectiveness of the Author’s Chair in the classroom. The findings indicate that the Author’s Chair is an effective instructional tool for enhancing young learners' English-speaking skills, as it provides a platform for students to express themselves and engage in peer interactions. However, it is also evident that successful implementation requires a significant investment of time and effort from educators. In conclusion, the study suggests that the Author’s Chair can be a valuable approach in English language teaching, fostering improved speaking skills in young learners when used consistently and effectively.

Abstract

Success in teaching and learning English is closely tied to the development of positive student character. Strong character traits help students harness their talents and build the resilience and self-confidence needed to face challenges and compete beyond the school environment. This study focused on the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Pemalang whose English proficiency was initially below the Minimum Competency Standard of 75. Pre-test results showed that 9 students (28.12%) did not meet the standard. After implementing character-based learning strategies, post-test results indicated significant improvement, with only 2 students (6.25%) falling short of the standard. The average score increased by 10.66 points, from 75.97 to 86.63. The integration of character-building activities fostered positive traits such as helpfulness, cooperation, care, confidence, sportsmanship, mutual respect, and high motivation. Feedback from questionnaires and interviews revealed that students felt more comfortable and happier in class, viewing it as a supportive and inclusive community. They learned in a relaxed environment, developed positive attitudes, and engaged in healthy, respectful competition. Ultimately, the cultivation of good character contributed significantly to their academic success.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of cooperative learning in enhancing language proficiency and social development in EFL classrooms. Effective language acquisition requires students to develop the four language skills, master linguistic elements, and understand cultural contexts essential for communication. However, limited opportunities to practice English outside the classroom hinder students’ progress. Cooperative learning addresses this challenge by promoting meaningful interaction and collaboration. According to Smith (1996), cooperative learning involves small groups where students work together to maximize their learning outcomes. Effective group processing within cooperative learning not only fosters the sharing and refining of strategies but also encourages learners to view language acquisition as a collaborative endeavor. Despite its benefits, many teachers fail to distinguish between merely placing students in groups and fostering genuine cooperation. Kessler (1992) emphasizes that successful cooperative learning requires structured activities that promote accountability, interdependence, and commitment to group goals. This study highlights the importance of carefully managing group dynamics and offers strategies for building effective cooperative groups in EFL contexts. Findings suggest that structured cooperative learning enhances students' language proficiency, engagement, and interpersonal skills, ultimately contributing to more successful learning outcomes.
