Abstract

Investigating characteristics of users and their pattern to access networks are parts of important points in traffic engineering. In this paper, those problems, specifically in wireless LAN, were observed and some related theories were explored. The observation was done in UMY, a campus located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In this term, we examined the traffic in an Wireless Action Point. Resuming the content of this paper, we found that the traffic had unique characteristics. For instance, during the day of measurement, the peaks of traffic were in the morning and in the afternoon. Average connected clients in all action points in UMY was between 2500 and 3000 users. When we selected an AP, the characteristic of the AP was examined, the number data size are 62.99 MB and 129.22 MB for mean and standard deviation respectively. We found that hourly trend of the usage of APs resembled self-similar model.

Abstract

Data verification systems evolve towards a more natural system using biometric media. In daily interactions, human use voice as a tool to communicate with others. Voice charactheristic is also used as a tool to identify subjects who are speaking. The problem is that background noise and signal characteristics of each person which is unique, cause speaker classification process becomes more complex. To identify the speaker, we need to understand the speech signal feature extraction process. We developed the technology to extract voice characteristics of each speaker based on spectral analysis. This research is useful for the development of biometric-based security application. At first, the voice signal will be separated by a pause signal using voice activity detection. Then the voice characteristic will be extracted using a bark-frequency cepstral coefficient. Set of cepstral will be classified according to the speaker, using artificial neural network. The accuracy reached about 82% in voice recognition process with 10 speakers, meanwhile, the highest accuracy was 93% with only 1 speaker.

Abstract

This paper presents a new robust optimization technique for distribution network configuration, which can be regarded as a modification of the recently developed genetic algorithm. The multi-objective genetic algorithm has been applied to this problem to optimize the total cost while simultaneously minimize the power loss and maximize the voltage profile. The IEEE 69-bus distribution network is used in the tests, and test results have shown that the algorithm can determine the set of optimal nondominated solutions. It allows the utility to obtain the optimal configuration of the network to achieve the best system with the lowest cost.

Abstract

Nowadays, technological developments interactions in general, couldn't be separated from the rapid development of computer technology and human interaction. So that, supporting the user to be able to develop various models of interactions, especially the interactions between humans and robots. This study proposes a model of design and manufacture of human and robot interaction, in the form of a visual display on a computer controlling the robot motion. Object interaction in this study is using 4WD Smart Car Robot. Some of the tools used to build a robot control system at the time of interaction, including Netbeans IDE, based on JAVA and Arduino. The control algorithm is applied to build an optimal control system to model an interaction between humans and robots. Model of human interaction and robot is fully carried by the user in control of robot motion. The proposed interaction model can be implemented in real terms, in designing and making a model of human interaction and robot.

Abstract

Technology information has been growing rapidly in the last few years. HMIPv6 is one of environment used in mobility internet connection. One of transmission used in this method is Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). TCP has a normal connection that connect mobile node to the internet and has a normal speed of transmission. This paper tries to compare TCP with another protocol. High Speed Transmission Control Protocol (HS-TCP) is a transport protocol that introduces new method by improving general algorithm of TCP in reducing time of loss recovery. HS- TCP is compared with TC¬P to see the performance of each protocol. The simulation of these protocols is using Network Simulator 2.31 (NS-2.31). The topology of HMIPv6 concludes 1 Home Agent (HA), 2 Foreign Agent (FA), 1 Mobile Node (MN), 1 Correspondent Node (CN). The performance measurement is processed when MN moved from FA2 to FA1 while communicating with CN. Throughput of HMIPv6 will become the parameters for QoS. The result of the simulation shows that HS-TCP has a better performance than TCP by looking at the throughput which ran on the HMIPv6 topology. This simulation have proved that HS-TCP are suitable to be implemented in neighborhood supporting high speed. With bandwidth at 100 Mbps, we can see that HS- TCP is 32% better than HS-TCP, in 500 Mbps HS-TCP is better at 96% than TCP. In 1Gbps, HS-TCP is better at 85% than TCP and in 10Gbps, HS-TCP is better at 86% than TCP.

Abstract

In 2016, Microcontroller Research Group at Dept. of Electrical Engineering Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogykarta has designed and developed a payload for High Altitude Balloon. This payload has function measuring atmospheric parameter vertically and sending the data to ground station on earth using telemetry. The parameters measured are air pressure, temperature and relative humidity. Besides sending these parameters, payload also have mission monitoring real positions of payload using GPS, real time video transmission, regulary capturing and sending image from payload . This payload is tested on the annual Atmosphere Balloon Payload Competition (KOMBAT) 2016. This paper will describe the design payload, payload software algorithms and the results that have been obtained.

Abstract

This paper investigates an interference coordination method for indoor hotspot deployment which includes cooperative communication between access points. Coordination between indoor hotspots access point with a method of coordination strategy is used by using of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas technique. In order to achieve the capacity, some preceding technique is implemented in MIMO such as Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Block Diagonalization (BD). MMSE and BD precoding is used to coordinate the transmissions across multiple antenna in transmitter and receiver in case of multiple antenna transmissions. Water-Filling (WF) power allocation is also implemented in this scheme. This schemes is proposed to mitigate inter user interference. Based on the simulation, the results show that coordination scheme in indoor hotspots deployment using BD pre-coding demonstrates a higher data rate than MMSE. The achievable sum rate of hotspot with coordination three access points using BD better around 5 Bps/Hz compared to MMSE method in the same cases.
