Abstract

The household sector plays an important role in the energy demand in Indonesia. Households consume more than 50% of total energy in many major cities in Indonesia and account for 34% of the total energy demand. The main share of capital allocation and attention, however, has gone to rural electrification programs over the past years with mixed results, due to an abundance of problems during the operation phase. We propose that government attention and capital should be broadened to policy development for solar home systems for urban areas. The problems that are encountered by rural electrification projects are mainly due to a lack of resources and unclear task allocation between involved parties and difficulties of addressing problems in remote environments. These risks are insignificant in urban areas where maintenance services are available and where solar home systems can be commercially interesting for higher income consumers without the need for subsidy. By means of a cost benefit analysis, this paper shows that solar home systems can be commercially interesting for households in urban areas. Different investment scenarios were worked out with systems costing 5%, 10%, and 15% of the total average house price. The analysis indicates that the policy is feasible when solar systems are coupled to the grid but not for off-grid systems. This is because the battery leads to high investment and maintenance cost. From a government point of view, developing policy towards renewable energy usage in urban households could help to reach national  electrification and environmental targets without extra capital allocation as well as relieve pressure on the already overburdened state electricity company, the PLN.

Abstract

The use of a Water Pump at the initial start is the use of electricity with a large capacity which sometimes faces various kinds of efficiency problems. These problems include an increase in current that occurs in the channel by improving the quality of electric power, especially in the electrical system in the area of the use of the Water Pump, which is expected to be able to improve the quality of electric power. The purpose of the research was to design an inverter starting energy saver as an effort to improve power quality for electricity savings, electric power efficiency in water pumps. This improvement is also expected to be able to reduce the cost of using electricity bills, especially in the use of water pumps. To be able to carry out the improvement of the quality of the electric power, it is necessary to calculate the active power and apparent power when the water pump is used. After performing these calculations, the installation of the inverter starting circuit saver electricity will be used. By carrying out these steps by installing a series of inverters that can improve the quality of electrical power. And by using the inverter circuit starting Energy saver, it is clear that it produces an active power efficiency value of 82% of the active power before using the 272 Watt inverter circuit and active power after using the 223.9 Watt inverter circuit, and also produces an apparent power efficiency value of 83% before using the circuit. inverter 275.18 VA and apparent power after using the inverter circuit 227.94 VA

Abstract

University Course Timetabling Problems is a scheduling problem to allocate some lectures with some constraint, such as the availability of lecturers, number of classrooms and time slot in each day. The schedule of courses is one of important factors before start the semester in order to manage the study process. Generally, the university course scheduling in some universities are usually created manually through administration office. It needs to synchronize for all schedules from all departments in faculty of the university. In addition, the limitations of classroom and timeslot can make collision of the courses, lecturers and also incompatibility between the room capacity and the number of students whom take the course in the class. This paper proposes the university course time tabling systems. Based on some simulations with 93 courses, 18 lecturers and up to six classrooms, the result is that the system will get the best violation if the system adds more number of iteration. This situation also happens in the result of the scheduling lectures, the system will get the best percentage when the number of iteration sets as maximum.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to design an adaptive model for multipaths communication channels. To evaluate the performance of the model, the authors used two indicators, namely the attainment of a minimum value of error signals in the form of interface and echo on the channel, and Filter Finite Impulse Response (FIR) has the same form of equation as the channel equation used. This adaptation process uses the Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm. The LMS algorithm is known as a simple algorithm, which is fast computation time and the computation results are quite satisfying. In this study, the authors used Simulink software on Matlab. In general, this research is divided into three stages, namely modeling multipaths communication channels as an adaptive system, designing an adaptive system model on Simulink, and designing a simulation of 250 iterations. After obtaining the simulation results in the form of errors and weight of the FIR filter, it is observed that both of the results have met the requirements of the indicators of the success of this study. With 250 iterations used, satisfactory results were obtained in the form of the fulfillment of all indicators of the success of this study.

Abstract

This paper presents a neuro-fuzzy approach for predicting vehicle fuel consumption. The prediction of fuel consumption of a vehicle has become a strategic issue. This is because it is not only related to the problem of the availability of fuel which is getting thinner but also the problem of the environmental impact caused. In this study, the acquisition of the car parameter data was inputted, namely the number of cylinders, displacement, horsepower, weight, acceleration, and model year. The output variable that will be predicted is fuel consumption in miles per gallon (MPG). 'Weight' and 'Year' are chosen as the two best input variables. Training results and predictions are expressed in the three-dimensional input-output surface graph of the best two-input ANFIS model for MPG prediction. The graph shows a nonlinear and monotonic surface, where MPG is predicted to increase with an increase in 'Weight' and a decrease in 'Year'. The results of the RMSE training were 2.767 and the RMSE examination was 2.996. Based on the results of the study showed that the greater the weight of motor vehicles, the greater the amount of fuel needed to travel the same distance.

Abstract

The Ishihara method is one way to detect whether or not someone suffers from color blindness. This method possesses several sets of plates or circle patterns containing various combinations of colored dots and sizes, forming numbers visible for people with normal eyes. A collection of several plates with the name Ishihara book is available in the market. However, the book has a weakness for being easily damaged or faded in color. Although there are some shortcomings, several researchers have developed applications to anticipate those weaknesses. Being unable to be used by several people at once and the test history has not been adequately archived, are several examples of shortcomings of existing applications. This study aims to create a client-server-based color blindness testing mobile application. The system can provide real-time test results, and detailed test history is presented. Another feature is the push notification menu that sends messages to all users. This application has been designed and implemented successfully. Thereby, it can be used for a color blindness test before conducting a medical examination.
