Abstract

The use of renewable energy sources in distribution networks results in considerable environmental and economic benefits, but it introduces challenges related to uncertainty, intermittency, and system stability. A complete multi-objective optimization model is developed that integrates renewable energy units, battery energy storage systems, electric vehicles, demand response programs, and hydro turbine units to solve these problems. The proposed methodology achieves cost savings and reduces carbon footprint while maintaining operational stability in the system. The optimization model includes full mathematical representations of all components including photovoltaic and wind generation systems and battery energy storage system state-of-charge dynamics and electric vehicle charging and discharging schedules and controllable hydro generation. A time-of-use demand response scheme is adopted to model demand flexibility which allows for load shifting and increased renewable utilization. The model is employed in a case study of 150 customers; the framework shows its efficiency through comparative simulations that evaluate performance under scenarios with demand response and without demand response. The results show that demand response reduces peak demand, improves storage coordination, and increases renewable integration. The demand response lowered costs to $6,300-$11,150 and emissions to 12,825-12,860 kg. The configuration of electrical vehicle and battery energy storage systems are combined to achieve peak shaving allowing customers to support the grid and the hydro turbine can provide effective back up power when the renewables are unavailable. The results indicate that coordinated optimization of renewables with storage and demand flexibility leads to improvements in cost-emission performance while enhancing sustainability and system resiliency.

Abstract

Translanguaging is one of the foci in international linguistics studies. Recently, there is a heat in learning Chinese with the increasing influence of Chinese language in the international area. The present paper synthesized the developmental trajectory, hotspots and future trend of research on translanguaging in international Chinese education based on SSCI-indexed journal articles sourced from Springer, Cambridge, Oxford and Web of Science. It has been found that 1) there is an incremental trend in translanguaging research in international Chinese language education which falls into three stages; 2) there is no close tie of cooperation among researchers and institutions in terms of space distribution with Macao Polytechnic University, Dublin City University, and University of Copenhagen as the institutions that have the most publication number in this field; 3) a multiple hotspots were identified as follows: the application of translanguaging in international Chinese language education, translanguaging pedagogy and diasporic community, Chinese language teaching and global textbooks, cultural comprehension and language policy, and others; 4) the developing trajectory of translanguaging research in international Chinese language education falls into the exploratory period, slow development period, quickening development period, and rapid development period; 5) the emerging keywords like bilingual education, diasporic community, language choice reflected the changes of attention to translanguaging research in international Chinese language education. These changes might exert far-reaching influence on language education, policy, society and culture.

Abstract

With the development of globalization, exchanges between countries in the political, economic and cultural fields have increased. Immigrant families in the world will use heritage languages to maintain and pass on their cultural identities, making society develop towards diversification. In view of the upsurge in heritage language research in recent years, it is necessary to sort out the research dynamics and development trends in this field. Based on the CNKI database, this paper collected 46 relevant literatures on heritage language research from 2009 to2024, adopted a scoping review method, and used tools such as CiteSpace and Excel to sort out its development status and trends. The study found that: 1) The research on heritage language has gradually increased, especially reaching a peak in 2023, showing its attention in the academic community; 2) The research revealed many hot topics, including the language acquisition and development of heritage language, the identity and motivation research of heritage language learners, the policy support for the heritage language, and the impact of the social language environment on heritage language; 3) Taking 2015 and 2020 as the nodes, the research can be divided into three stages: the starting stage, preliminary exploration and rapid development; 4) The sudden increase in keywords such as heritage language, identity, and family reflects the changes in the attention of the academic community to heritage language, which may have a profound impact on education, policy and social culture.

Abstract

This paper systematically reviews 19 published papers on Tongshan dialect from 1979 to 2021, offering a comprehensive evaluation from multiple dimensions, including the publication timeline, key authors and institutions, research themes and hot topics, academic context and trends, existing issues, and prospects. The study finds that Tongshan dialect research has undergone a profound transformation from initial descriptions as part of regional dialects to becoming an independent and finely studied subject. Its research focus remains firmly grounded in historical phonology, with abundant achievements in phonetic description and historical evolution analysis. Grammar studies concentrate on distinctive sentence structures, while lexical and pragmatic research remains relatively underdeveloped. Future research should seek breakthroughs in expanding geographical coverage, deepening theoretical applications, conducting comparative studies that integrate synchronic and diachronic approaches, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing language resource preservation, thereby advancing the field toward more comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth development.

Abstract

This paper explores the characteristics of Chinese language learning motivation and its individual differences among 147 international students enrolled in a Chinese language program at a local university in central China by using quantitative survey method. Descriptive analysis and Independent sample T-test were conducted on the collected data through SPSS27.0. The research results showed that 1) the Chinese language learning motivation of international students in China was at a high level overall, 2) there were no significant differences in relation to gender in the participants’ Chinese language learning motivation; the participants were significantly different in ought-to L2 self and L2 learning experience in relation to age; the participants with difference Chinese language proficiency were significantly different in ought-to L2 self. Based on these results, Chinese teaching should adopt differentiated teaching strategies to fully meet the diverse needs of international Chinese language learners and thus improve the pertinence and effectiveness of Chinese language teaching.

Abstract

This paper, based on activity theory and adopting a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews, investigated the features and influencing factors of Chinese language learning motivation among six international students learning Chinese in a local key university located in central China. Results revealed that the participants displayed a medium to high level of Chinese language learning motivation; and that their Chinese language learning motivation was influenced by five socio-cultural factors, including subject-related factors (language learning planning awareness, strategies, and interest), mediational tools (textbook difficulty and teaching facilities), rule-related factors (graduation stress and exams), learning communities (teachers and peers), and labor of division factors (teacher-student relationship, peer relationship). These findings offer implications for improving Chinese language teaching and learning efficiency to international Chinese language learners.

Abstract

By collecting 124 relevant literature on international Chinese language education research under the Belt and Road Initiative from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database over the past decade (2015–2025), this study employs a scoping review methodology and utilizes CiteSpace visualization software to analyze its current status and development trends. The findings reveal that: 1) The overall development of international Chinese language education under the Belt and Road Initiative exhibits considerable fluctuation, broadly divided into two phases—rapid development and fluctuating adjustment—with 2018 serving as a turning point. 2) Research hotspots primarily encompass four areas: innovation in the “Chinese + Specialized Subject” composite talent cultivation model, regional and country-specific Chinese language education research, the transformation and high-quality development of Confucius Institutes, and the dissemination and advancement of Chinese language education. 3) In the context of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, international Chinese language education is characterized by diverse, broad, and dynamic research trends. Analyzing the current state and developmental trends of international Chinese language education research under the “Belt and Road” framework can provide valuable insights for future studies.
