Abstract

Consistency is one of the important concepts in Islam that can help individuals achieve true happiness in life. In Tafsir Al-Maraghi and Tafsir Al-Misbah, Ahmad Musthafa Al-Maraghi and M. Quraish Shihab explain the relevance of consistency to human happiness. The purpose of this study is to analyse the relevance of steadfastness to human happiness in Tafsir Al-Maraghi and Tafsir Al-Misbah, as well as to compare the interpretations of Ahmad Musthafa Al-Maraghi and M. Quraish Shihab regarding the relevance of steadfastness to human happiness. This study uses qualitative research methodology with content analysis as the data analysis technique. The data sources for this study are Tafsir Al-Maraghi and Tafsir Al-Misbah. The results of this study indicate that the attitude of istiqamah has a very close relevance to human happiness. Ahmad Musthafa Al-Maraghi and M. Quraish Shihab explain that istiqamah is the key to achieving true happiness in life. However, there are differences in interpretation between the two regarding the relevance of the attitude of istiqamah to human happiness, especially in terms of the emphasis on the spiritual and practical aspects of istiqamah.

Abstract

Interpretation as a result or product of the dialectic between the reasoning of an interpreter and the text, and the context that surrounds it, requires continuous dynamics, interpretation has no stopping point. That is why the product of interpretation needs to be studied. This writing aims to analyze the methods and sources of interpretation used in the book Tafsir al Kasyif by Muhammad Jawwad Mugniyah, especially in surah al Fatihah verses 1-7. The author uses a qualitative method through literature study with various reference sources, both primary and secondary based on books, journals, and others that support this research. The special methods presented by Tafsir al Kasyif include: presenting a special discussion on Isti'adzah and Basmallah; mentioning the name of the surah; writing one surah as a whole; presenting various opinions about where it was revealed; explaining the naming of surah al Fatihah first; Interpreting the Qur'an verse by verse; explaining the rules of language; explaining the meaning and prioritizing the opinion of Ali Zainal Abidin; Explaining vocabulary; explaining the differences in readings (qiraat). Muhammad Jawwad uses a general method: Tahlili, in presenting his tafsir work, along with a special method that tends towards linguistic rules to examine each meaning, and is accompanied by a variety of opinions that prioritize opinions oriented towards the fanaticism of his sect's ideology. If there are differences in readings or qiraat, he presents these differences, but does not explain them in depth and includes strong sources, only as informative.

Abstract

This research aims to critically examine the verses of the Koran which are often associated with domestic violence (KDRT) and how gender interpretation can influence the interpretation of these verses. The main question of this research is how verses related to domestic violence are interpreted from a gender perspective, and to what extent these interpretations support or reject violence in domestic relationships. The research method used is a literature study with a hermeneutic approach and gender analysis. This research found that contextual interpretations that consider gender justice are more supportive of protecting women's rights and rejecting all forms of domestic violence. These results show that an inclusive and gender-just understanding in interpreting the Koran can contribute to efforts to reduce domestic violence in society.

Abstract

This research explores the ecological crisis in Indonesia caused by uncontrolled land conversion, such as deforestation for housing, industry, mining, and palm oil plantations. Every five seconds, the world loses a forest area equivalent to a football pitch, with Indonesia recording the second largest loss of primary tropical forest globally. This phenomenon not only leads to climate instability and natural disasters but also triggers economic shifts and a human spiritual crisis. The urgency of this research lies in the lack of Islamic discourse specifically addressing land conversion as a theological issue that touches on ethical and practical aspects. The aim of this study is to examine the concept of isti’mar (prospering the earth) in the Qur’an as a theological mandate for humanity to restore environmental balance. This qualitative research employs a thematic interpretation approach, integrating Aldo Leopold's land ethic environmental theory and Paul W. Taylor's biocentrism. The findings indicate that isti’mar demands a paradigm shift from human dominance to a partnership relationship with nature. This study proposes an Ecological Restoration Movement through two approaches: renaturalisation, which involves restoring land to its natural condition, and ecological adaptation as compensation for irretrievable land changes. In conclusion, isti’mar serves as a theological foundation for ecological restoration, guiding humanity in fulfilling its role as a steward of the earth through moral and ethical land management.
