Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country with high marine biodiversity, has great potential in utilizing marine biota as a source of nutrition and medicine. Additionally, microalgae Schizochytrium sp. and Aurantiochytrium sp., which are widely found in Indonesia's mangrove ecosystems, serve as sources of DHA and EPA, which play important roles in human health, particularly in the development of nutritional supplements and the biotechnology industry. Melatonin compound identification was performed using thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Both the sample and standard melatonin compounds were spotted onto a silica gel GF plate. The mobile phase used was an upper-phase mixture of n-butanol: acetic acid: water (12:3:5), and the Rf values of the resulting spots were calculated under UV light observation. The BSLT test on methanol extract of Boergesenia forbesii yielded an LC50 value of 508.74 ppm, indicating the extract contains toxic compounds.

Abstract

Daun Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri terhadap Propionibacterium acnes. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan ekstrak etanol daun Kelor dalam sediaan cleansing balm, mengevaluasi stabilitas fisik, dan menguji aktivitas antibakterinya. Sediaan dibuat dalam empat formula, yaitu F0 (basis), F1 (5%), F2 (7,5%), dan F3 (10%). Uji stabilitas dilakukan dengan metode cycling test meliputi organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, dan daya sebar. Seluruh formula menunjukkan bentuk semi padat, homogen, stabil, serta pH sesuai kulit (5,00–5,78). Hasil uji antibakteri menunjukkan rata-rata zona hambat F1 sebesar 6,85 mm, F2 sebesar 8,68 mm, dan F3 sebesar 10,46 mm. Formula F3 memiliki aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi dengan kategori kuat. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun Kelor dapat diformulasikan menjadi cleansing balm yang stabil dan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Propionibacterium acnes.
