Abstract

Facial expression is one of some aspects that can deliver story and character’s emotion in 3D animation. To achieve that, we need to plan the character facial from very beginning of the production. At early stage, the character designer need to think about the expression after theu done the character design. Rigger need to create a flexible rigging to achieve the design. Animator can get the clear picture how they animate the facial. Facial Action Coding System (FACS) that originally developed by Carl-Herman Hjortsjo and adopted by Paul Ekman and Wallace V. can be used to identify emotion in a person generally. This paper is going to explain how the Writer use FACS to help designing the facial expression in 3D characters. FACS will be used to determine the basic characteristic of basic shapes of the face when show emotions, while compare with actual face reference. Keywords: animation, facial expression, non-dialog

Abstract

Animations that are presented using virtual reality are important to keep the audience's focus. This is due to the freedom of the audience to direct their views as they wish. The author aims to design the flow of movement in a 3D animated video about the vaccine-rice procedure. So, the audience (kids) will continue to focus on the video. Discussions of movement include the relationship between the concept of personal space and the flow of character movements. In the process of designing a motion, the writer observes references to similar animated films, conducts experiments and literature studies on the principles of animation and the flow of movement.

Abstract

Projection technology is a technology that is familiar to modern society. It has been seen a lot in everyday life, from attending class lectures and watching movies in the theater. Projection technology is also used in creating art, such as projection mapping in various objects. Projection-Mapping is one of the technological achievements that opens complete access for artists to create and tell stories uniquely. Storytelling is something that humans always do over generations. The usage of technology these days is not limited in terms of form. One of the innovative ways to use projection mapping is "le Petit Chef." The combination of fine dining restaurants and the immersive experience when watching animation on a consumer table has positive outcomes for the restaurant industry. Based on the case study of projection mapping named "le Petit Chef", this research will focus on creating a story for projection mapping titled "Si Dulang". This research will also identify the factors the storyteller needs to consider when adopting new technology. Keywords: storytelling; projection mapping; fine dining; animation

Abstract

Konsep bentuk 2D animation.

Abstract

This study documents the practice-led development of “Mangu,” a locally designed intellectual property (IP) representing a mangrove seedling, and its accompanying children’s storybook “Si Kecil Mangu” (Little Mangu), created as an educational visual narrative for children aged 6–7 years in Sukawali Village, Pakuhaji District, Tangerang Regency. Sukawali Village faces significant environmental and social challenges, including coastal abrasion, mangrove destruction, and limited access to educational media for children. Through collaboration with the Kampung Bahari Nusantara (KBN) community and Rumah Pintar volunteers, this research employs a qualitative and practice-led research approach to document the full IP creation process — from character design and social media audience testing to the production of a finalized storybook grounded in Dual Coding Theory, Visual Literacy Theory, and Narrative Transportation Theory. The findings demonstrate that theory-informed visual narrative design produces educational media that is both locally grounded and academically rigorous. Beyond its immediate educational function, “Mangu” offers a replicable model for how mascot-based IP can be developed through participatory, practice-led processes to support community-based environmental education in coastal conservation contexts.
