Abstract

Research on the adaptation process of students from other regions aim to answer fundamental things related to the adaptation process of students from other regions who are studying at Binus University. Appropriate adaptation process can help create conducive environment to achieve good quality of learning (good quality of education). With good adaptability, students are expected to graduate well too. Becoming excellent graduates are the dream of every student, parents and university as well as community and country. Research of adaptation process of students from other regions who are studying at Binus University was conducted with descriptive qualitative methodology, the data obtained through in-depth interviews in the field and then were exposed to inductive analysis through the stages planned. To support the study, data collection is done in the following way: observation, survey, search and find key informants, and conducted in-depth interviews. Once the data is collected and analyzed then the next step is to generate data on the final results report. Students who come from other regions view that the process of adaptation is important and should be done. What is important and should be done in an adaptation process includes several things, such as the distance between students’ new area of domicile to campus, social culture in students’ place of origin to the students’ new area of domicile, and the situation of environmental conditions (society) of students’ place of origin to students’ new domicile as well as individual specific views (attitudes and behaviors ). Students from other regions adapt in a variety of ways, ranging from respecting new area of domicile custom, getting involved in students’ activities in campus and to comply with regulations. Adaptation also needs to be done to the entire academic community, including with other related environment. From the results of the study also showed that students who come from other regions view adaptation process is associated with learning outcomes at the university.

Abstract

In the last few months, terrorism has become in interesting talks and debates. Unfortunately, terrorism study is minimum. Terrorism is an act or behavior that criticizes the existing civilization, especially west civilization. Terrorism topic could be studied from multidiscipline science, from social science, political, economical, and also religious. Terrorism study will be able to give contribution in solving terrorism problems accordingly. Terrorism problems involved complicated and wide dimension. In order to solve terrorism problems, it needs to be understood the way terrorism begins. Terrorism behavior is an act that must be its trigger. In order to solve terrorism overall, the trigger must be defined so the solution will be clear. Justice creates a world order, and is an important tool in reducing terrorist acts in addition to other efforts should also be made. This should be done immediately, because terrorism itself is due to many factors, and must also have interest in it.

Abstract

Price of international oil and gas has fluctuatively increased from time to time. The reality encourages the government of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to raise (or adjust) the price of fuel in the country. Viewed from the history, since the era of President Soekarno, Soeharto, Megawati, and Gusdur fuel price increase policy has always been controversial, inviting pros and cons, although the actual adjustment is reasonable and necessary. Government policy of SBY to raise fuel prices and ultimately failed is interesting to learn. This study focused on the political communication of SBY government. The SBY government's efforts to raise fuel prices got tough challenge from several people, including members of the Parliament. The pros and cons protracted and eventually the SBY government failed to raise the fuel prices. Methodology of this article used descriptive-qualitative research. Data obtained through field observations and literature. Data were analyzed descriptively based on research purposes. Role of the writer in a descriptive qualitative study was the main thing. Results showed that the failure of SBY political communication was caused by the failure in convincing Indonesian people. SBY government needed to clarify and reinforce the authority to raise fuel prices belong to the Government. Any information (messages) should be communicated directly, clearly, and firmly through the process. Messages from the source to the target (society) needs to be maintained properly. If not, the messages can be misused. Each message can be added, subtracted (either partially or completely) which will lead to misunderstanding, biased, confusing, and protracting situasions.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the reasons Jakarta’s residents in determining the political choice in election 2014. This research was conducted with descriptive qualitative method, by conducting in-depth interviews and a review of the literature in the field. The data from the field through the inductive analysis presented in planned stages. Data were sufficient when it could answer the research subject matter. These results of the research are the characteristic Jakarta’s residents in determining the political choice is very various, there are people who want to get involved in it directly, but also there are people who do not want to get involved.

Abstract

This article was a descriptive qualitative research. The discussion conducted with descriptive analysis. Basic analysis of the study used observation, seminar, and literature review from the web, book, and journal. The study focused on the national development, tax amnesty, and repatriation. It finds that the most important thing for the people, especially under the economic development, is the public welfare and prosperity that are achieved by tax conducted by the government. The making of tax policy, repatriation, and tax amnesty need to be preceded by the academic paper earnestly and profoundly as a basic philosophical, social, and cultural that can be accepted by the people of Indonesia.

Abstract

Student life in university has many dynamics. One of the important and basic problems that could threat successful learning in the university is difficult personality of the student. The article discusses many students failed in university because of having difficult personality. Therefore, handling difficult personality among students must be done as soon as possible. Based on analysis of literature study, efforts in handling difficult personality must be done through the exact education purpose. This is to be thought many parts, including academic community in the university to create students having knowledge and technology and also good characteristic.

Abstract

The research discussed hoax information as an effect of disruptive innovation and how to solve it in society. It applied a qualitative descriptive method with a case study focusing on hoax information of 10 million Chinese workers who came to Indonesia. The research was library research conducted through various sources of literature and journals. Data analysis was carried out by answering the points that were analyzed and cross-checked to other data sources in order to answer the research questions. It is found that living in the millennial changes rapidly; various forms of innovation are born and developed very quickly, and so do the problems and challenges. To prevent the spread of hoax information, some efforts need to be done to understand the process, ethics implementation, law enforcement, and accountability of information.

Abstract

Abstrak Dalam era Revolusi Industri 4.0 terjadi perubahan cepat disebabkan Perkembangan Teknologi berbasis internet. Dalam perubahan yang cepat tersebut, Pemerintah perlu mampu memanfaatkan era serba digital (‘masyarakat online’). Dalam meningkatkan pelayanan Publik yang baik peran pemerintah diuji. Peneltian ini menjadi sangat penting karena sebenarnya ada permasalahan, pertanyaan dan sekaligus tantangan dasar yang perlu dijawab terkait Pelayanan Publik agar menjadi pelayanan Publik Profesional, dan Komunikatif. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian kualitatif (deskriptif naturalistik) dengan mengunakan analisis pendekatan induktif (dari khusus ke umum). Proses dan makna prespektif subjektif dimana peran peneliti sangat menentukan. Penelitian akan dianggab selesai bila Tujuan Penelitian sudah terjawab. Unit analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah Pelayanan Publik yang profesional dan komunikatif. Perkembanga Teknologi Komunikasi berbasis Internet begitu cepat. Pelayanan Publik yang baik akan sejalan dengan prinsip Goodgovernement dan tujuan bernegara Indonesia. Pelayanan Publik yang profesional menjadi kunci, menyelesaikan masalah dengan hati dan sesuai dengan keinginan masyarakat. Disamping itu, kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik merupakan hal dasar yang diperlukan dan sangat mendukung sukses tidaknya pelayanan Publik secara keseluruhan. In this rapid change, the Government needs to take advantage of the all-digital era ('online society'). In improving public services this Research becomes very important because there are questions, and to be challenges related to Public Services in order to become a Professional and Communicative. This research is a qualitative (descriptive naturalistic) study using inductive research analysis (from specific to general). The process and meaning of subjective perspective in which the role of researchers is crucial. The research will be considered complete if the Research Objectives have been answered. The unit of analysis in this study is a professional and communicative in public service. The development of Internet-based Communication Technology is so fast. Good public services will be in accordance with the principles of good governance and the objectives of the state of Indonesia. Professional public service is the key, solving problems with heart and in accordance with the wishes of the community.
