Abstract

In the context of preventing radicalism, it is important to research educational institutions that have implemented multicultural Islamic education. This article explains how deradicalization is pursued through Multicultural Islamic Education at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand the role of Islamic religious education in shaping students' multicultural attitudes. Data were collected through observations, interviews with 15 alumni from three cohorts, and documentation, focusing on the integration of multiculturalism concepts in the course materials. The findings indicate that the Multicultural PAI doctoral program at UNISMA significantly contributes to preventing radicalism by promoting tolerance and inclusive religious education. The program encompasses both theological and socio-cultural aspects, which help transform students' mindsets to become more open and reinforce the values of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and Pancasila within the framework of Islamic education. The curriculum serves as a deradicalization tool by deepening the understanding of diversity and encouraging positive interactions within and between religious communities. However, its effectiveness is influenced by students' subjective factors, such as their attitudes, and external factors like the sociopolitical context. Further research is needed to assess the program's long-term impact and refine the curriculum based on student feedback.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the lives of Generation Z, particularly in communication patterns, identity formation, and digital media usage. However, these advancements have also contributed to various moral issues such as the spread of hoaxes, cyberbullying, hedonistic culture, and the weakening of ethics and spirituality among young people. This study aims to analyze digital literacy strategies based on the values of akhlakul karimah as an effort to protect Generation Z from the negative impacts of AI. The research employed a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were collected through the analysis of scientific literature, books, journal articles, and other relevant sources related to Islamic education, digital literacy, Generation Z, and AI development. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytical content analysis. The findings indicate that the internalization of akhlakul karimah values through digital literacy can be implemented through three main strategies: reconstructing Islamic education learning based on digital contexts, strengthening family roles through Islamic digital parenting, and developing positive digital content ecosystems. Values such as shidq, amanah, ukhuwah, and hikmah serve as essential foundations in shaping the digital character of Generation Z. This study emphasizes that integrating Islamic education with digital literacy is a strategic approach to developing a generation that is technologically competent while remaining morally and spiritually grounded in the AI era.

Abstract

This study examines the deconstruction of pesantren epistemology in responding to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly in relation to the opportunities and ethical challenges of knowledge. As an Islamic educational institution, pesantren has a distinctive epistemological foundation rooted in revelation, scholarly tradition, transmission of knowledge, adab, teacher authority, and the orientation toward public benefit. The presence of AI offers significant opportunities for pesantren, including expanding access to Islamic literature, supporting classical Islamic text learning, improving educational management, strengthening digital da’wah, and assisting contemporary Islamic research. However, AI also presents epistemological and ethical challenges, such as the depersonalization of teacher-student relationships, algorithmic bias, the weakening of learning adab, academic integrity crises, and the shifting authority of knowledge from scholarly transmission to computational systems. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research and critical-comparative analysis. The findings indicate that pesantren needs to develop an adaptive-critical epistemological model in responding to AI. This model positions AI as an assistive tool that must remain subject to revelation, scholarly transmission, adab, and maqashid al-shari‘ah, rather than replacing the epistemic authority of pesantren.
