Abstract

This paper aims to discover how santri’s resistance within kitab kuning reading acceleration program recently popular in Madurese pesantren turns out to improve the program itself. Santris’ resistance becomes a big deal considering its contradiction to ethical unwritten rules in pesantren while the fact shows how this phenomenon strikes. For that purpose, genealogy of such programs is firstly identified along with characteristics of each to figure out how, beyond the existing diversities, the programs share the same pattern, including the common root and impact of resistance. Involving 240 informants from santri, ustad, and program providers, this mixed research expanded its data compilation with in-depth interviews engaging some selected informants as well as comprehensive desk review. The result discloses  pesantren networking in intellectual hub responding to nowadays challenges in the decrease of kitab kuning reading proficiency along with dynamics of resistance among santri, mainly in negotiation type through emotional, verbal, and physical expression. Despite the fact that resistance mutates along with punishment as a part of rule, it has less influence on the program accomplishment, implying how both program and its resistance based system improvement transform the way Islamic education takes place beyond the studens’ sort of transgression.

Abstract

This study examines the theological messages of Surah An-Nas in Mafa>ti>h al-Ghayb by Fakhruddin al-Razi and their relevance to contemporary life. The background of this research is based on the increasing psychological problems, social pressures, and complex flows of information in modern society, which are closely related to the concept of al-waswa>s al-khanna>s in Surah An-Nas. This research employs a qualitative library research method with theological and contextual approaches. The primary source of this study is Mafa>ti>h al-Ghayb, while secondary sources consist of relevant books and scholarly articles. The data were analyzed descriptively and analytically through examining the meanings of the verses and al-Razi's interpretations. The findings reveal that Surah An-Nas contains three main theological concepts: Rabb, Ma>lik, and Ila>h, which represent Allah's nurturing care, sovereignty, and the exclusive right to be worshipped. In addition, the concept of al-waswa>s al-khanna>s is understood as subtle disturbances affecting the human inner self, originating from both jinn and humans. In the contemporary context, the message of this surah remains relevant as a spiritual foundation for dealing with anxiety, social manipulation, hoaxes, and distractions in the digital era. Therefore, Surah An-Nas functions not only as a prayer for protection, but also as a theological and psychological framework for maintaining the inner resilience of modern human beings.

Abstract

This study addresses the lack of quantitative evidence on how social media intensity and digital da’wah exposure influence changes in religious practices among Indonesian urban university students in digital sociology. The research objective is to analyze the effects of social media intensity and exposure to digital da’wah on changes in religious practices among urban Muslim students. Methodology: an explanatory quantitative study of 113 Muslim urban students using Likert questionnaires, analyzed with SPSS through validity, reliability, normality tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results show all instruments are valid and highly reliable, with Cronbach’s alpha exceeding 0.90. The regression model Y = 2.502 + 0.428X1 + 0.498X2 indicates that social media intensity and digital da’wah exposure significantly and positively influence changes in religious practice. The simultaneous F-test (F = 361.184, p < 0.001) confirms a strong combined effect. Partial t-tests reveal X1 (t = 3.922, p < 0.001) and X2 (t = 4.582, p < 0.001) are significant predictors. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.868) indicates that 86.8% of the variance in changes in religious practice is explained by the model's variables. Conclusion: social media and digital da’wah significantly and positively shape changes in religious practices among urban university students. This study advances research on digital religion and informs educators, da’wah actors, and policymakers about the transformation of digital religiosity.
