Abstract

This study aims to comparatively analyze the Imla’, Insya’, and Problem Based Learning (PBL) methods in teaching mahārah kitābah at the Madrasah Aliyah level. Arabic writing skills remain one of the most challenging competencies for students due to linguistic complexity, limited instructional time, and the dominance of traditional teaching approaches. This research employed a qualitative library research design by examining books and recent scholarly journal articles relevant to Arabic writing pedagogy. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using thematic comparative analysis focusing on instructional characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and contextual implementation of each method. The findings reveal that the Imla’ method is effective in improving orthographic accuracy and reducing writing errors, Insya’ particularly guided composition enhances students’ expressive ability and sentence structure, while PBL promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and contextual writing competence. However, each method also presents limitations when applied independently. Therefore, this study concludes that an integrative instructional approach combining Imla’, Insya’, and PBL is the most relevant strategy for improving Arabic writing skills in Madrasah Aliyah. The results contribute both theoretically to Arabic language teaching methodology and practically for teachers in designing adaptive and effective writing instruction.Key words: Arabic writing skills; Imla’; Insya’; Problem Based LearningPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara komparatif metode Imla’, Insya’, dan Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam pembelajaran mahārah kitābah di Madrasah Aliyah. Kata kunci: mahārah kitābah; Imla’; Insya’; Problem Based Learning

Abstract

This study aims to describe the Merdeka Belajar-based Arabic language learning model at SDIT Gondang Pekalongan, analyze the learning innovations implemented, and identify the problems faced by teachers in its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the principal, Arabic language teachers, and learning documents related to the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Merdeka Belajar-based Arabic language learning model at SDIT Gondang Pekalongan has not yet been fully aligned with the provisions of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum because its implementation is still relatively new, having started in the second semester of 2023. Learning administration documents still use the lesson plan (RPP) format of the 2013 Curriculum and have not fully adopted teaching modules in accordance with the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum standards. Nevertheless, the learning process has implemented Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and student-centered learning approaches. The learning innovations carried out by the teachers include the use of enjoyable learning methods, project assignments based on learning themes, interactive learning media, Arabic-themed song adaptations, and Arabic-language videos in the learning process. Meanwhile, the problems encountered by teachers include the lack of training on the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum for Arabic language teachers, difficulties in implementing Arabic language learning according to the demands of the curriculum, and challenges in improving students’ kitabah (writing) and kalam (speaking) skills. This study concludes that the implementation of Merdeka Belajar-based Arabic language learning at SDIT Gondang Pekalongan has moved toward innovative and student-centered learning. However, it still requires strengthening teacher competencies and developing learning tools that are more compatible with the characteristics of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Arabic comic media as an innovative solution in qirā’ah (reading) learning for Year 12 students at the Indonesian Embassy School in Riyadh. The background of this research is based on findings of a gap in the learning process, where students experience difficulties in integrating their understanding of text meaning with the analysis of linguistic rules (nahwu and shorof) due to the separation of the focus of the material taught by different teachers. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects are Grade XII students at the Indonesian Embassy School in Riyadh. The validation results show that the Arabic comic media obtained an average score of 96% from media experts (Very Suitable) and 80% from subject matter experts (Suitable). In addition, limited trials showed very positive student responses with an average score of 88% (Very Suitable), especially in terms of visual aspects and interest. Thus, this Arabic comic media is declared very suitable for use and has been proven to bridge the integration between language proficiency and linguistic analysis in a visual, interactive, and interesting way, especially in a multicultural context.
