Abstract

Background: The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the business world, including among Muslim entrepreneurs. However, this advancement raises questions about how such technology can be utilized without neglecting Islamic values. This study aims to understand how Muslim entrepreneurs interpret spiritual values, apply Islamic ethics, and perceive the economic and efficiency functions of AI usage.Method: A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was employed to explore the experiences of Muslim entrepreneurs in Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using NVivo software. Results: The findings reveal that the meaning of AI usage encompasses five core values: tawhid (monotheism), amanah (trustworthiness), sharia compliance, efficiency, and gratitude. The application of Islamic ethics is reflected in honesty, justice, social responsibility, trust, and ihsan (excellence) in the utilization of technology. The interpretation of AI’s economic and efficiency functions is viewed as part of human effort (ikhtiar) to enhance productivity and competitiveness while maintaining spiritual balance and social welfare. Conclusion: The implications of this study highlight the potential for developing AI usage guidelines that align with Islamic ethics, ensuring efficiency and competitiveness while upholding justice and social responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze college students' preferences for Islamic financial products, explore the influence of these preferences on loyalty formation, and develop a conceptual model of Islamic financial consumer loyalty. The research method used was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 17 college students who had knowledge or experience related to Islamic financial products. Data analysis was performed using NVivo software. The results showed that college students' preferences were influenced by religiosity, financial institution reputation, trust, digital service innovation, and financial education. These factors contribute to the formation of consumer loyalty. Based on these findings, this study developed a consumer loyalty model that encompasses three main dimensions: spiritual attachment, digital engagement, and community-based advocacy. This model integrates consumer loyalty theory and Value-Belief-Norm (VBN) theory to explain the relationship between religious values, digital behavior, and loyalty to Islamic financial products. The implications of this research lie in its contribution to broadening the theoretical understanding of consumer loyalty in the Islamic financial sector and providing strategic direction for financial institutions in strengthening long-term relationships with young customers.

Abstract

Aggressive digital promotions encourage excessive consumption patterns that are not based on needs. From an Islamic perspective, uncontrolled consumption can be contrary to sharia principles, but the extent to which Islamic values are able to control consumer behaviour still needs to be studied further. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of Islamic values in controlling the consumer behaviour of Muslim consumers in Bandung City. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand the subjective experiences of Muslim consumers in dealing with social media promotions. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, involving consumers who actively shop online. Data were collected through interviews and analysed using NVivo. The results showed that Islamic values such as qana'ah, prohibition of israf, maslahah, hisbah, zuhud and tawakal play a role in controlling consumption. NVivo analysis found that the prohibition of israf, qana'ah, and maslahah were dominant factors in limiting excessive consumption. Understanding hisbah helps consumers be more selective about promotions. Meanwhile, the attitude of zuhud forms psychological resilience to consumption pressures, while tawakal instils inner peace and reduces the tendency to shop in response to financial anxiety.
