Abstract

Stress among adolescents has become an increasingly important public health issue, particularly due to academic pressure, social demands, and limited access to mental health services. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a community nursing intervention in reducing stress levels among adolescents in Aceh Province. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. A total of 60 respondents were selected through purposive sampling and divided into an intervention group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). Stress levels were measured using the validated Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42). The intervention was delivered as a structured program consisting of psychoeducation, group-based stress management, and peer support over six sessions. The Paired t-test showed a significant reduction in stress scores in the intervention group, from 26.43 to 16.15 (p < 0.001). The Independent t-test also showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups after the intervention (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the community nursing intervention was effective in improving coping ability and reducing stress among adolescents. The integration of community-based programs is needed as a preventive strategy to support adolescent mental health.

Abstract

Elderly people are individuals over 60 years old, who are susceptible to various diseases due to declining body function. The increasing number of elderly people is accompanied by the risk of degenerative diseases, such as hypertension, stroke, gouty arthritis, and heart disease. Gout arthritis is caused by high levels of purine in the body and can affect all ages if the diet is unhealthy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education using educational videos on changes in elderly knowledge about gout arthritis in Kuta Krueng village. This study is an experimental study with a One-Group Pre-post Test Design approach, the number of samples in this study was taken from the elderly population in Kuta Krueng village as many as 47 respondents. In this study, a bivariate analysis was conducted to prove the research hypothesis. The results of the T-test obtained a P value = 0.000. meaning that there is an effect of health education using educational videos on changes in elderly knowledge about gout arthritis in Kuta Krueng Village. Using the Dependent T-test at a significance level of 95% (= 0.05) and a paired t-test with a p-value of 0.000, the results showed a significant difference in the knowledge of the elderly before and after counseling. It is recommended to provide health education about gout to the elderly periodically through counseling and educational media. This step aims to increase the elderly's knowledge and reduce the prevalence of gout in the future.

Abstract

Basic needs are elements required to maintain physiological and psychological balance. In older adults, physical, psychological, and social changes may increase dependence in daily activities, making family support important. This study aimed to determine the relationship between family role and fulfillment of basic needs among older adults in the working area of Langsa Baro Community Health Center. An analytic cross-sectional design was used. The population consisted of 269 older adults and 73 respondents were selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires measuring family role and fulfillment of basic needs. Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the largest proportion of respondents received good family support, 27 respondents (37%), while basic needs were fulfilled in 38 respondents (52.1%). The Chi-Square test yielded p=0.000 (p<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between family role and fulfillment of basic needs. The findings emphasize the importance of family involvement through emotional, informational, instrumental, appraisal, and daily-care support for older adults
