Abstract

In the era of rapid digital transformation, Arabic language education plays a crucial role not only in developing linguistic competence but also in fostering learners’ moral and spiritual character. However, many contemporary teaching materials tend to emphasize technical language skills while giving limited attention to the integration of Islamic values, creating a gap between educational ideals and classroom practices. Despite the growing discourse on value-based education, empirical studies on the integration of Maqasid al-Shariah into Arabic-language textbooks, particularly in digital learning contexts, remain limited. This study aims to analyze the integration of Maqasid al-Shariah values in the Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk textbook as a contemporary model for teaching Arabic in the digital age. The researchers employed a qualitative, descriptive-analytical method to analyze the book’s content in light of the five higher objectives of Islamic law: the preservation of religion, life, intellect, progeny, and property. This approach used both printed and digital sources, employing triangulation to enhance academic credibility. The findings reveal that the textbook strikes a balance between linguistic and educational dimensions, incorporating Maqasid-based values into its texts and learning activities, thereby linking language learning with moral refinement and intellectual development. It also employs digital media through its official online platform to facilitate access to knowledge and promote autonomous learning. However, the study identifies challenges in the use of modern technology, including limited interactive features and the need to pay for access to self-assessment tools. The significance of these findings lies in presenting a new vision for Arabic language education that harmonizes authenticity with modernity, positioning Maqasid al-Shariah as a framework for developing an integrated digital curriculum that combines linguistic proficiency with moral education, thus contributing to the advancement of Islamic language pedagogy in line with the demands of the digital era without losing its identity.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed language learning media, with podcasts emerging as an alternative platform to enhance speaking skills. This study investigates the use of Arabic podcasts integrated with strong motivation to learn in improving students’ Arabic speaking skills (maharah al-kalam). The study applies a qualitative case study approach. Data were gathered through open-ended questionnaires and in-depth interviews with students actively engaging with Arabic-language podcast content. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that podcasts significantly support the development of speaking fluency, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation accuracy, and learner confidence in oral communication. Exposure to authentic and contextual input through podcasts facilitates meaningful learning experiences while promoting flexible and independent learning strategies. These outcomes reinforce the theoretical relevance of Communicative Language Teaching and Second Language Acquisition frameworks within Arabic language instruction supported by digital audio media. Importantly, this study addresses a gap in Arabic language pedagogy, as previous research has largely concentrated on EFL or younger learners, leaving higher education contexts underexplored. By situating Arabic podcasts within a university setting, the study provides empirical evidence for their role as an innovative alternative to enhance speaking proficiency. The study further recommends that educators incorporate podcasts into classroom practices, curriculum design, and independent learning activities to optimize student engagement and outcomes. It also opens pedagogical opportunities for integrating podcasts as an instructional strategy in higher education and calls for further research on their long-term impact on other language competencies.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an introductory Arabic syntax (nahw) textbook integrating the Brain-Based Learning (BBL) approach and educational technology principles to enhance students’ syntactic competence and learning motivation in the Arabic Language Education Department at State Islamic University of Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari, Ponorogo. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) methodology through the ADDIE model, data were collected using interviews, questionnaires, observations, and pre-/post-tests. Expert validation from material, media, and linguistics specialists confirmed that the textbook meets high-quality standards in content accuracy, visual layout, and cognitive-technological design. During implementation, classroom observations and assessments demonstrated significant improvements in students' understanding of basic syntax, practical rule application, and active participation. Statistical analysis using a paired-samples t-test indicated a significant improvement in the experimental group's scores from pre-test (M = 54,70, SD = 14,125) to post-test (M = 78,43, SD = 11,026). Furthermore, an independent samples t-test revealed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group (p = 0,023 < 0,05). These empirical learning gains were supported by positive student feedback regarding the textbook's readability and presentation. The evaluation confirms that blending BBL with modern educational technology tools successfully fosters neurologically compatible, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences. Consequently, the developed textbook is highly feasible, effective, and suitable as an innovative learning resource for undergraduate syntax instruction, serving as an essential reference for future digital textbook development.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how Islamic education can be reframed in response to the epistemic challenges of the post-truth era through the integration of Islamic epistemology and digital ethics via tabayyun literacy. It seeks to conceptualize tabayyun literacy as an epistemological framework for reconstructing digital literacy within the broader project of Islamization of knowledge. The research method used was qualitative library research with a conceptual-analytical approach. Data were derived from primary Islamic sources, particularly relevant Qur’anic verses and classical interpretations, as well as contemporary scholarly literature on Islamic epistemology, digital information ethics, critical media literacy, and post-truth discourse. The data were analyzed through thematic interpretation and integrative conceptual synthesis. The results of the study show that tabayyun literacy functions as an integrative epistemological framework that operationalizes the Islamic synthesis of revelation (wahy), reason (‘aql), and empirical verification in digital information practices. The findings indicate that tabayyun literacy extends digital literacy beyond technical verification by embedding moral accountability, epistemic vigilance, and critical reflection into information engagement. The study further demonstrates that integrating Islamic epistemology and digital ethics through tabayyun literacy contributes to reframing Islamic education from a transmissive model of knowledge delivery toward an epistemic-formative model centered on critical inquiry and ethical reasoning. This study concludes that tabayyun literacy provides a coherent conceptual foundation for renewing Islamic education in the post-truth era, enabling it to remain intellectually relevant, ethically grounded, and responsive to the challenges of digitally mediated societies.

Abstract

Traditional approaches to teaching complex literary concepts in prophetic traditions, such as al-Kināyah (metaphorical expressions) in al-Ḥadīth al-Sharīf, often struggle to engage modern learners, highlighting a gap in integrated gamified e-learning frameworks within Islamic studies. To address this, this article is centered on creating an e-learning module for Islamic civilisation education that utilizes Minecraft Education to teach the content of al-Kināyah in al-Ḥadīth al-Sharīf. The module was developed following the Design and Development Research (DDR) model, which included needs analysis, content development, and evaluation of usability. This research focuses on the last stage involved evaluating usability with feedback and observations from twelve Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain insights into the module's usability and engagement using the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). The results confirmed that the experts' consensus was accepted and the Fuzzy scores from this article supported the mean values obtained from expert’s judgments, ranging from 0.750 to 0.872 for all items. The findings of this article contribute to the field of e-learning by demonstrating the usability of the DDR model in designing instructional modules that integrate Minecraft educational games as a means for teaching and learning complex literature concepts. The module provides a comprehensive framework for educators interested in incorporating e-learning and gamification elements into Islamic studies and language education.
