Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve Sharia financing literacy and strengthen the productivity of millennial hydroponic vegetable farmers in Setail Village, Genteng District, through guided implementation of Salam and Istishna’ contracts. Partner farmers faced three main challenges: limited capital access, market price uncertainty, and low literacy of Sharia-compliant financing schemes. The service activity applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with three integrated approaches: participatory education, tripartite partnership facilitation (farmers–Sharia financial institution–offtaker), and intensive production cycle mentoring. Results showed: (1) an average 46.2% increase in farmers’ knowledge of Salam and Istishna’ contracts; (2) 40.1% increase in hydroponic vegetable productivity; (3) 150.8% increase in net income per cycle; and (4) 100% Sharia compliance based on 8 DSN-MUI No. 05/2000 indicators. The activity also produced the Integrated Sharia Hydroponic System (SIHATA) as a replicable model for sustainable Sharia-based agricultural development.
