Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of multisensory approach on eleventh-grade students’ vocabulary mastery at SMA N 2 Sukawati and to investigate students’ perception of its implementation. This study employed quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental research design involving 68 eleventh-grade students. Test and questionnaires were used to collect the data, which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analyses. The finding revealed a significant difference in the post-test results between experimental and control groups after controlling the pre-test results as the covariate, F (1,65) = 4.666, p = 0.034, ηp2 = 0.067. In addition, the questionnaire results showed the mean scores ranging from 3.00 to 4.71, indicating that the multisensory approach positively affected students’ vocabulary mastery and generated positive perceptions toward vocabulary learning. However, this study was limited by the small number of participants and short duration of the research. Future researchers are encouraged to conduct the similar studies with larger samples of participants and longer research duration to obtain more comprehensive findings.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of using TED-Talk video on second semester students’ speaking skill in Speaking for Daily Communication Course at Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar. This study used quasi-experimental design. The participants of this study were 38 students of second semester in English Language Education Department. The study used pre-test and post-test as instrument to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis through ANCOVA test. The post-test mean score of experimental group was higher (M = 91.43, SD = 4.057) compared to control group (M = 89.88, SD = 4.270). The ANCOVA result showed that there was significant difference in the post-test scores between experimental and control groups after controlling the pre-test scores, F (1,35) = 6.015, p = 0.019, ηp2 = 0.147. It can be concluded that there is significant effect os using TED-Talk on second semester students’ speaking skill in Speaking for Daily Communication course at Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of using MALL through Duolingo on the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Sukawati. This study used a quasi-experimental research design. Participants were 75 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Sukawati, divided into two classes. A speaking test was used to collect data through a pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics and non-parametric tests, especialy the Mann-Whitney U test and Guade's ANCOVA. The test results showed a significant difference in post-test scores between the two groups after controlling for pre-test scores as a covariate using the Guade's ANCOVA test, with a p-value of 0.000, or lower than 0.05. These results indicate a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The mean score for the experimental group was 71.08, while the mean score for the control group was 64.56. Therefore, it can be concluded that using Duolingo has a significant effect on students' speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Kahoot! as media on students’ vocabulary mastery. This research used a quasi-experimental design with two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The population of this study was the students of seventh- grade SMP N 2 Susut in the academic year 2025/2026. The sample consisted of class VII-D as the experimental group and class VII-E as the control group, with 30 students in each group.  The experimental group was using Kahoot! as media, while the control group was using conventional media. The research instrument to determine the effectiveness of the treatment was given a Pre-test and a Post-test. The result of this study was analyzed using an Ancova. The ANCOVA result showed that the treatment had significant effectiveness on students’ post-test scores after controlling for pre-test scores F (1,57) = 53.427 with p = 0.001. It indicated that there was a significant difference between the students who were taught by using Kahoot! and those who were taught by using conventional media. The effect size also showed a strong effect with partial eta squared value of 0.484. Which means that students who learn using Kahoot! as media increase students’ vocabulary mastery.
