Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted to introduce the differences between service, trading, and manufacturing companies to students of SMP Ricci 1 Jakarta. The activity was motivated by the low interest and understanding of students toward basic accounting, which is often perceived as too theoretical and difficult to relate to real-life situations. Therefore, the program was designed to provide a contextual and interactive learning experience that helps students easily understand fundamental accounting concepts. The activity was implemented through a face-to-face interactive teaching approach, combining material delivery with educational games using the Kahoot platform as an evaluation tool. The session took place on October 6, 2025, and was attended by 28 students. The evaluation results showed that 17 students achieved an accuracy level above 80%, and 10 students scored between 60–80%, indicating a significant improvement in their understanding of the topic. The activity also proved effective in increasing learning motivation through the use of digital-based interactive methods. In conclusion, this PKM successfully enhanced students’ basic accounting literacy while creating an engaging and enjoyable learning environment for middle school students.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program titled Trial Balance Deepening for Students of SMA Santo Kristoforus 1 Jakarta aims to enhance students’ understanding of basic accounting concepts, particularly in preparing trial balances as a crucial part of the accounting cycle. This activity applied an interactive, practice-based learning approach conducted face-to-face, supported by the Kahoot platform for pre-test and post-test evaluations. Through this approach, students were guided to comprehend the relationship between general journals, ledgers, and trial balances, while logically tracing the balance between debit and credit. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding, as reflected in their post-learning evaluations. Furthermore, the engaging and competitive learning atmosphere encouraged students to participate actively, demonstrate accuracy, and show enthusiasm during the session. This program not only strengthened students’ academic and analytical competencies in accounting but also fostered greater interest in the subject as a discipline relevant to both business and daily life. Overall, the activity represents a concrete implementation of the MBKM initiative, creating an innovative, contextual, and sustainable learning experience that enhances financial literacy among high school students.
