Abstract

This study examines the practice of leasing kapok trees in Bissappu Subdistrict, Bantaeng Regency, and evaluates its conformity with fiqh muamalah (Islamic commercial jurisprudence). It uses a field research design with normative and phenomenological approaches, integrating Islamic legal analysis with real practices in the community. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with tree owners and tenants. The findings show that the contract (akad) is conducted orally based on mutual trust, with prices determined through bargaining. Tree owners usually set prices based on estimated harvest yields. However, the lease duration is unclear, as contracts often end when the harvest is completed rather than on a fixed agreed date. After the agreement, owners typically withdraw from management, leaving tenants responsible for all costs and risks, including crop failure and uncertain yields. From a fiqh muamalah perspective, this practice involves significant gharar (uncertainty), especially regarding time and benefits. The object of the contract is also problematic, as it essentially concerns the kapok yield, which is consumable. According to the majority of scholars (jumhur), such a contract is considered an invalid (batil) form of ijarah. This study offers an empirical-legal analysis and recommends alternative contracts, such as profit-sharing partnerships (mudharabah) or service-based ijarah, where the object, duration, and risk mechanisms are clearly defined to ensure fairness and legal certainty.

Abstract

This community service article describes the optimization of alms (sadaqah) and social assistance programs in easing the basic economic burdens of vulnerable residents and strengthening social empathy during the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Campagaya Village, Galesong District, Takalar Regency. The program is positioned as community service rather than impact research on long-term economic welfare. Its objectives are to distribute assistance to eligible beneficiaries, provide short-term support for basic household needs, and build community trust and sympathy toward KKN social-religious activities. The method applied was a participatory community service approach using Participatory Action Research (PAR), direct door-to-door delivery, and community-based distribution. Beneficiaries were identified through observation, coordination with village officials, and vulnerability criteria, such as low-income households, elderly residents, widows, and families whose income depends on seasonal work. Program success was assessed through beneficiary accuracy, distribution records, documentation, brief interviews, and community participation. The results indicate that the iftar and basic-food-package programs helped reduce short-term household expenditure, encouraged gratitude and positive responses among beneficiaries, and strengthened cooperation among students, village officials, donors, and residents. Nevertheless, the program remains consumptive and short-term; therefore, future activities should be developed into productive assistance, skills training, or micro-enterprise mentoring so that social assistance can contribute more sustainably to community empowerment.

Abstract

In every journey, there are stories waiting to be preserved. In every act of service, there are lessons ready to be learned. Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) is not merely an academic program, but a journey that teaches the meaning of togetherness, compassion, and social responsibility. Within a short period of time, students immerse themselves in community life, feel its pulse, and learn from the richness of local wisdom. KKN is a compulsory course that must be carried out by every university student. Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Islam dan Bahasa Arab (STIBA) holds KKN once a year, and in 2025 STIBA Makassar conducted the program in Tanralili District, covering 7 villages and 1 sub-district for a duration of 57 days, from February 26, 2025 to April 24, 2025. One of its goals is to train students in developing practical skills and experience in empowering communities. As a result, the KKN female students successfully implemented work programs focusing on religious development, including Silaturrahmi, Pesantren Kilat, teaching in schools, Taklim Fikih Muslimah, Arabic language instruction, Tebar Ifthar, and cupping therapy services.
