Abstract

Abstrak. Artificial Intelligence growth have brought about significant changes in online learning at the university level. This study aims to understand the communication strategies employed by instructors and students in the use of AI during the online learning process. This study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach that explores the subjective experiences of participants who support AI as a medium for online learning. Interviews were conducted with students and faculty members who actively use AI platforms such as Canva Magic Write, ChatGPT, and Grammarly. The results indicate that the communication strategies established between faculty and students are collaborative, adaptive, and open to technological advancements, as they must align with the evolving times. However, challenges exist, including dependency, academic ethics, and disparities among AI users. In the digital age, this study is expected to serve as a foundation for developing more reflective, adaptive, and humanistic educational communication strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning of Persib’s symbolic communication among Bobotoh through the symbols displayed in the Cultura Persib Exhibition in Braga, Bandung. The topic is significant because Persib has developed beyond a football club into a cultural identity closely associated with the people of Bandung and West Java. This research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with four Bobotoh informants and one key informant who is a communication scholar, photojournalist, and Persib supporter. The findings reveal that symbols displayed in the exhibition, such as statues, trophies, logos, achievement stars, jerseys, and historical artifacts, are interpreted as representations of Persib’s history, achievements, identity, and cultural heritage. The meanings attached to these symbols are constructed through symbolic interaction processes involving the concepts of mind, self, and society proposed by George Herbert Mead. Furthermore, these symbols contribute to shaping Bobotoh’s identity through emotional attachment, loyalty, a sense of belonging, and collective pride. The study concludes that the Cultura Persib Exhibition functions as a medium of symbolic communication that strengthens and preserves the collective identity of Bobotoh.
