Abstract

This study aims to analyze farmer characteristics, the effectiveness of the Thousand Independent Seed Villages (SDMB) Program, and the income of seed farmers in Pasar Miring Village, Pagar Merbau District, Deliserdang Regency. The research method used a census approach with 25 farmers as respondents. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies, then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that most farmers were of productive age, experienced, but had low levels of education. The SDMB program was classified as effective based on aspects of understanding, targeting accuracy, and program planning. However, from an economic perspective, the seed nursery business has not been profitable because the R/C ratio is less than one and the net income is negative. This indicates that the business is still a side business. Therefore, technological improvements, seed certification, and strengthening marketing are needed to increase farmer income.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of rice farming based on differences in varieties used, namely national superior varieties, local superior varieties, and hybrids in rainfed rice fields. The research method used was a survey of rice farmers with a quantitative descriptive approach. The results showed that the highest productivity was obtained by the Super Bernas hybrid variety with an average production of 7,454 kg/ha/planting season, followed by the local variety Anak Daro at 6,746 kg/ha, and the national variety IR 42 at 6,417 kg/ha. The highest production costs were also found in the Super Bernas variety, but were offset by the highest net income of Rp6,809,118/ha. In terms of efficiency, the Super Bernas variety showed the highest RCR value of 1.36, which means it is more efficient than other varieties. Overall, hybrid varieties provide higher production results and income despite requiring higher production costs.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate an effective marketing strategy to increase chili seed sales at the agribusiness company CV. Mitra Jaya, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The decline in sales indicates an inaccuracy in the implementation of marketing strategies. The research method used is a descriptive approach with data collection through interviews with key informants and analysis using the IFE, EFE, SWOT, and QSPM matrices. The results show that the company's main strengths lie in product quality and production experience, while the main weaknesses lie in limited promotion and marketing reach. The greatest opportunity comes from increasing chili consumption, while the main threat comes from increasingly fierce competition. Based on the SWOT analysis, several alternative strategies were obtained, and through QSPM it was determined that the priority strategies are developing digital-based promotions, maintaining product quality, and establishing partnerships with farmers. The implementation of these strategies is expected to improve the company's competitiveness and marketing performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production costs, revenues, and income of coconut farming in Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency. This study uses a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The data used consists of primary data obtained through direct interviews with farmers using questionnaires, as well as secondary data from related agencies. Data analysis was carried out using cost, revenue, and farm income analysis. The results of the study indicate that the total production costs of coconut farming are Rp 6,131,275 per year. The average production of coconuts produced by farmers is 22,015 coconuts with a selling price of Rp 1,200 per coconut, resulting in revenue of Rp 26,417,700 per year. The net income earned by farmers is Rp 20,286,425 per year. Based on the results of the study, coconut farming in Pantai Labu District is classified as profitable and feasible to be developed because the revenue obtained is greater than the production costs incurred. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase the efficiency of cost use and support from the government in the form of extension and price stabilization to improve farmer welfare.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze shallot farmers' perceptions of the shallot development program. The research method used was a survey, which involved interviews and direct observation or supervision at the broad development locations. Interview guidance and data collection were guided by a structured questionnaire. The sampling technique for locations/regions was purposive based on the potential and carrying capacity of the commodity's development. Respondents were drawn using a purposive cluster sampling method to group the sample according to the research objectives. A total of 100 individuals were selected from farmer groups involved in shallot production. The analysis technique used was descriptive research. The results showed that farmers' perceptions categorized as high were those for community support/involvement (114.10%), assistance with inputs (123.47%), and assistance with seeds (101.10%). This means that the average perception of shallot farmers in Deli Serdang Regency for these criteria exceeded 100%. The farmer perception criteria that fell into the low category were program clarity (93.27%), program targeting accuracy (89.74%), mentoring and extension (86.81%), and financial assistance (91.49%). This criterion is considered low because the average percentage of this criterion is less than 100%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of production factors on soybean farming results in Deli Serdang Regency within the framework of the Special Effort Program (Upsus) PAJALE. The production factors analyzed include land area, seeds, fertilizers, labor, and pesticides. The research method used is a quantitative approach with Cobb-Douglas production function analysis using cross-section data of 90 farmer respondents. The results of the study indicate that partially the variables of land area, seeds, and fertilizers have a positive and significant effect on soybean production, while labor and pesticides have a positive but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, all independent variables have a significant effect on soybean production with an F count of 61.150 and a significance level of 0.000. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²) of 0.772 indicates that 77.2% of the variation in soybean production can be explained by production factors in the model, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside the study. The results of the technical efficiency analysis indicate that the use of land area, seeds, and pesticides is still in an inefficient condition (increasing returns to scale), so there is still potential for improvement. Meanwhile, fertilizer and labor use are inefficient (decreasing returns to scale), necessitating adjustments. Therefore, increasing soybean production in Deli Serdang Regency depends not only on additional inputs but also on efficient management of production factors and support from the Upsus PAJALE program.
