Abstract

Stunting remains one of Indonesia’s most persistent nutritional challenges. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the prevalence of stunting in West Sumatra reached 23.6%. One effective nutrition-sensitive intervention for stunting prevention is the Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) program, which consists of five main pillars. The working area of Belimbing Health Center in Padang shows a high-risk profile, with 449 stunted children, 247 underweight children, and exclusive breastfeeding coverage of only 62.76%. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of pregnant women and mothers with children under two years old in implementing proper sanitation practices through the five STBM pillars. The intervention improved community participation, sanitation behavior, and family support for clean and healthy living. The community is expected to take a more active role in maintaining environmental sanitation and adopting clean and healthy living behaviors as an effort to prevent and reduce the prevalence of stunting. This activity is anticipated to contribute to the reduction of stunting rates in support of achieving the Golden Generation 2045.

Abstract

The impact of advancements in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on students' behavior and health has become a serious issue. Excessive use of mobile devices, social media, and the internet has altered how students interact, learn, and spend their leisure time, triggering sleep disorders, digital addiction, social isolation, and decreased physical activity. This initiative aims to enhance teenagers' understanding of the effects of ICT on their health and behavior. The method involves educational sessions using videos and books, followed by a post-test to assess whether there is an improvement in students' knowledge and understanding of the effects of ICT on their behavior and health, as well as to evaluate the success of this community service program. The activity was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah on June 4, 2024, with 36 students. The results showed that 91.7% of students understood the importance of responsible gadget use. However, 75% of students experienced negative effects such as sleep disturbances and decreased concentration, while 66.67% reported headaches due to excessive gadget use, often caused by poor posture and neck strain. Conclusion :This initiative successfully raised students' awareness of the impact of technology, emphasizing the importance of using gadgets wisely.

Abstract

The village of IV Koto Mudiek, Batang Kapas District, has 1,891 households (KK) with access to proper toilets, while 310 households (KK) still use inadequate toilets. Meanwhile, surveys/observations show that many people still defecate inappropriately, especially in rivers. One effort is the community's involvement in Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) with the first pillar. The aim of this community service is to achieve a change in the community's behavior and to commit to stopping open defecation, especially in the river. The method of this service is carried out through empowerment and training for the community (participants) through lectures, discussions, and simulations with material on the 5 STBM Pillars, with a specific focus on the First Pillar of STBM, which is Stop Open Defecation. The results of the pretest and posttest showed an improvement in the participants' understanding of the 5 STBM pillars, particularly the first pillar, Stop Open Defecation. Additionally, the commitment/agreement of participants to encourage people who still defecate in the river to use proper toilets was achieved. Furthermore, they agreed not to throw trash into the river. The program in Kenagarian IV Koto Mudiek improved STBM understanding, commitment to stop open defecation, and protect rivers.
