Abstract

School supervision is very important to help teachers do a better job and improve the overall quality of education. This study aims to find out the problems and difficulties faced when running school supervision at SMP Darul Falah Jeblog Talun. To get the data, the researcher talked directly with the school principal, vice principal, and some teachers, while also observing the school activities and checking their documents. The results show that supervising teachers at SMP Darul Falah isn't always easy. Some of the main problems are that supervisors don't have enough time, teachers don't really understand why they are being supervised, and there is too much paperwork. On top of that, teachers often feel nervous, anxious, or stressed when they are being evaluated because they feel like they are just being judged. These mixed feelings make it hard to create a comfortable learning environment for everyone involved. In conclusion, even though the school supervision plan is already set up well on paper, its actual practice still needs a lot of improvement. Supervisors need more training to do their job better. Most importantly, the school needs to change how it looks at supervision. The focus should shift away from just checking boxes toward working together, talking openly, and genuinely helping teachers grow. By doing this, teachers will feel supported instead of scared, which will eventually make the school a much better place for students to learn every day.

Abstract

The transformation of pesantren leadership has become a significant issue in the management of contemporary Islamic education due to increasing demands for professionalism, organizational complexity, and institutional governance modernization. Traditionally, pesantren leadership has relied heavily on the charismatic authority of the kiai, who serves as the central figure in decision-making processes, organizational culture formation, and socio-religious legitimacy. Although this leadership model has been effective in preserving the identity and values of pesantren, the dominance of a central figure also creates several institutional challenges, including organizational dependency, weak leadership regeneration, limited authority distribution, and inadequate governance standardization. This study aims to analyze the construction of charismatic kiai leadership, examine the transformation of pesantren leadership toward system-based governance, and formulate an ideal model of contemporary pesantren leadership. This study employed a qualitative approach using the Narrative Literature Review method. Data were collected from national and international journal articles, books, theses, dissertations, and scientific proceedings related to pesantren leadership, organizational transformation, and Islamic education management. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis involving data reduction, thematic categorization, literature synthesis, and conceptual interpretation. The findings reveal that pesantren leadership transformation has shifted from a person-centered leadership model toward a more professional, collective, and adaptive institutional leadership model. This transformation is characterized by strengthening institutional systems, authority distribution, implementation of modern governance, administrative digitalization, and the development of collaborative leadership without eliminating the spiritual legitimacy of the kiai. This study proposes the Spiritual-Systemic Leadership Model, which integrates the spiritual charisma of the kiai with modern organizational systems based on professionalism, collective leadership, Islamic value-based governance, and sustainable institutional evaluation. The model represents a synthesis between preserving pesantren traditions and meeting the demands of organizational transformation in the modern era.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays an essential role in developing students’ intellectual, spiritual, and moral competencies. However, contemporary educational practices indicate that educational success is still predominantly measured through academic achievement rather than character formation. This study aims to analyze the gap between academic achievement and character building in Islamic Religious Education from the perspective of Islamic educational quality management. The research employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from national indexed journals and reputable international publications published between 2020 and 2026 through databases such as Google Scholar, Garuda, Crossref, and DOAJ. The collected literature was analyzed using content analysis techniques through data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the dominance of academic orientation, the weak integration of character education within quality management systems, and the lack of consistent religious school culture contribute significantly to the imbalance between cognitive achievement and students’ moral development. The study also found that hidden curriculum, teachers’ role modeling, and transformational leadership play important roles in strengthening students’ character formation. Therefore, Islamic educational quality management requires a holistic and integrative reorientation that combines academic excellence with spiritual, moral, and social character development through religious culture, comprehensive evaluation systems, and collaborative educational environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of Islamic educational management, its managerial functions, and its implementation in Islamic educational institutions from the perspective of academic literature. Islamic educational management is one of the essential aspects in managing Islamic educational institutions to achieve educational goals effectively and efficiently based on Islamic values. This library research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The data sources consisted of various books, scientific journals, academic articles, and related studies. Data collection was conducted through documentation studies and literature reviews, while content analysis was used for data analysis. The study reveals that Islamic educational management is a method of managing educational institutions that not only focuses on administrative aspects but also integrates spiritual principles, trustworthiness (amanah), responsibility, justice, and deliberation (musyawarah) into the educational process. The primary functions of Islamic educational management include planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. When implemented in Islamic educational institutions, these functions can improve the quality of educational management and shape students with noble character (akhlaq al-karimah). Therefore, Islamic educational management must continue to be developed professionally and adaptively in order to address the challenges of education in the modern era.
