Abstract

This study examines the growth trends, partnerships, and distribution of educational psychology knowledge in Southeast Asia from 2015 to 2025 via a scientometric methodology. Data were derived from 400 papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, examined using bibliometric analysis, social network analysis, and thematic analysis utilizing VOSviewer 1.6.18 software. The findings indicated three stages of publication evolution: a stable initial growth phase (2015-2017) averaging 31 publications annually, a decline phase (2018-2019) attributed to the diversification of research methodologies, and an accelerated growth phase (2020-2025) catalyzed by the digital transformation following the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-word network analysis revealed five primary thematic clusters: learning and pedagogy (blue cluster), educator psychological well-being (red cluster), preventive psychological interventions (orange cluster), digital learning and mental health (green cluster), and cross-country studies (brown cluster). The primary issue with this research is the lack of a thorough grasp of the trends in the development, cooperation, and sharing of information in educational psychology in Southeast Asia. Productivity gaps across nations, a lack of institutional integration, and a lack of local context adaptation to global paradigms are some of the issues that need to be addressed. The findings of this study point to the need for a more coordinated approach to international research cooperation, bolstering research capabilities in developing nations, and incorporating digital technology into the transmission of information. The practical ramifications include the need for regional policies that promote researcher interaction, expand access to scientific publications, and provide culturally responsive educational psychology courses. The Psychological Bulletin achieved the top ranking with 691 citations and an annual impact factor of 86.38. The distribution pattern has a core-periphery structure, with the essential ideas of "learning," "teaching," "theory," and "assessment" serving as the primary hub that links many subdisciplines. Digital change expedites the integration of novel paradigms in educational psychology, seen in developing topics such as "online learning," "engagement," and "instructional design." This study enhances the scientometric literature by offering an analytical framework to comprehend the dynamics of growth, collaboration, and knowledge transfer within a socio-culturally heterogeneous regional environment. The findings reveal a process of indigenization in psychology, wherein universal ideas are contextually adapted while maintaining scientific rigor, showcasing the epistemic advancement of educational psychology in Southeast Asia

Abstract

This study presents common problems of Sufi texts’ interpretation by orientalists, with a specific emphasis on the Annemarie Schimmel’s works. The primary purpose of this study is to uncover biases and limitations that may reside in Schimmel's approach to Sufism and to pave the way for a more reflective and contextual approach in Islamic studies. This work employs a philosophical hermeneutic approach developed by Hans-Georg Gadamer. The primary data source comes from Schimmel's works on Sufism, while secondary data are obtained from academic literature related to hermeneutics, Orientalism, and the study of Sufism. The results of the study show that Schimmel's understanding of Sufi texts is influenced by her prejudices and understandings as an orientalist. Schimmel's "casting fusion" process produces a rich interpretation but is not free from inherent bias. In conclusion, this study has revealed essential dimensions in the hermeneutics of Sufi texts studied by Schimmel and the emphasis on the need for more critical and reflective cross-cultural dialogue to understand the Islamic spiritual tradition more deeply.

Abstract

This bibliometric study explored psychoeducational interventions targeting sexual risk behaviors among college students from 1990 to 2024. A total of 1,847 publications were analyzed from Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO, and ERIC. Temporal mapping revealed three developmental stages: emergence (1990–2005), rapid expansion (2006–2015), and consolidation (2016–2024), with an average annual growth rate of 8.4%. Most studies originated from North America, particularly the United States (68.3%). The Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model was the most frequently applied framework (16.9%), followed by the Theory of Planned Behavior (15.6%). Group-based psychoeducational workshops demonstrated the greatest impact (Cohen’s d = 0.67) and strong cost-effectiveness, while digital interventions expanded outreach but struggled with sustained engagement. The interventions were most effective in reducing sexual coercion (40.7%) and improving STI status discussions (40.8%). Over time, research evolved from disease prevention to holistic wellness promotion. Nevertheless, regional disparities and limited cultural adaptation remain key challenges for global implementation.

Abstract

Background: In Muslim-majority contexts, religious and cultural values significantly shape adolescents' emotional development, particularly in dating-related behaviors, attachment styles, and emotion regulation. Objective: The research aims to examine how dating status influences attachment styles and emotion regulation strategies among Muslim adolescents, considering the impact of religious beliefs and cultural norms. Method: This study employs a systematic literature review approach, synthesizing findings from research conducted between 2017 and 2024. Relevant studies were analyzed to identify patterns in attachment styles and emotion regulation strategies. Results: The findings indicate that non-dating adolescents tend to develop secure attachment patterns and primarily utilize cognitive reappraisal as their emotion regulation strategy. This is reinforced by strong family religious values and structured social support systems. Conclusion: The study underscores the significant role of religious coping mechanisms in fostering emotional resilience and reducing psychological distress among Muslim adolescents. It highlights the importance of structured support systems in shaping secure attachment and adaptive emotion regulation. Contribution: These findings have theoretical, practical, and managerial implications, suggesting the need for faith-based mental health programs, educational interventions, and further cross-cultural research on Muslim adolescent psychology.
