Abstract

Excessive use of social media among adolescents may lead to addiction, which increases the risk of aggressive online behavior such as cyberbullying. This study aims to anlyze the relationship between social media addiction and the incidence of cyberbullying among adolescents in Semarang City. A quantitative method with a cross-sectiona. design was employed, involving 320 high school students from four public schools in semarang. Date were collected using the Social Media Addiction Scale–Student Form (SMAS–SF) and the Cyber Victimization Scale (CVS). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results revealed a significant relationship between social media addiction and cyberbullying (r = 0,368; p = 0,000). This finding indicates that higher levels of social media addiction are associated with greater involvement in cyberbullying, both as perpetrators and victims. In comclusion, social media addiction contributes to the rise of cyberbullying behavior among adolescents. It is recommended that adolescents improve self-control and digital literacy, while parents and educational institutions enhance supervision and education on responsible sociam media use.

Abstract

First-year university students undergo a transitional phase from the school environment to the academic, social, and emotional demands of higher education. This transition often triggers stress when not supported by an adequate social environment. Peer support plays an essential role in this adaptation process by providing emotional support, information, and a sense of belonging. Positive peer relationships can help students manage academic pressure, whereas poor peer interactions may increase the risk of stress. Therefore, peer support serves as a protective factor in maintaining the psychological well-being of first-year students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected using the Peer Support Questionnaire (PSQ) and the Student-Life Stress Inventory (SSI) from 130 first-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, UNISSULA. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using the Gamma correlation test to determine the relationship between the variables. The Gamma test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted, meaning there is a significant relationship between peer support and stress levels among first-year students. The correlation coefficient of –0.737 indicates a strong negative relationship, suggesting that higher peer support is associated with lower stress levels. There is a significant and strong relationship between peer support and stress levels among first-year students at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UNISSULA.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of appendicitis worldwide continues to rise, reaching 259 million cases in 2022, with a mortality rate of up to 21,000. The most common medical treatment for acute appendicitis is surgery (appendectomy). Post-surgery often causes anxiety in patients related to the recovery of bodily functions, fear, pain, complications, and feelings of helplessness, which impact quality of life and recovery time. This study aims to determine the impact/influence of a combination of Benson therapy and Quranic recitation therapy on the anxiety levels of post-appendectomy patients at Sari Asih Hospital, Karawaci. Results: This study provided a combination of therapies and analyzed the results in post-appendectomy patients in the treatment group using the Marginal Homogeneity test, which found a difference in anxiety levels with a p-value of 0.000 after the combination therapy intervention. Meanwhile, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test resulted in a p-value of 0.028, indicating a difference in anxiety levels between the control and treatment groups after the combination therapy intervention. Conclusion: This study shows evidence of the effect of the combination of Benson therapy and Quranic recitation on reducing anxiety in post-appendectomy patients at Sari Asih Hospital, Karawaci.
