Abstract

The availability of energy resources in the world increasingly diminish. More scientist is questing other renewable resources. The solar air heater is a tool that used energy by absorbing solar radiation then convert into heat energy. The study tried to have some variations to the speed of the air flow rate with spin 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm and 3500 rpm and give vertical partitions to it.The aim of giving vertical partitions is to know the influence to the heat transfer rate and the efficiency value of it. The result of this study is the speed variations of the blower take effect to the heat transfer rate. This is shown from the study data for 5 days, the average value of the heat of the system at 3500 rpm rotation is 341.6 Watts, 3000 rpm rotation value 305.7 Watt, and 2500 rpm rotation value 249.3 Watt. The average value of efficiency at 3500 rpm is 49.60%, 3000 rpm rotation is 43.22% and at 2500 rpm the value is 37.33%. The highest system heat is 535.79 Watt with the highest delta input and output temperature of 49.7 ℃. While the highest heat absorber is 1280.15 Watt with the highest light intensity, which is 140100 Lux. With a variety of rotation speeds blower and vertical partitions, this tool is capable of producing the highest efficiency of 67.95%, and the lowest is 24.85%.

Abstract

Cooling is the best preservation method than others because the food that has been cooled will remain fresh and will not experience a change in taste, color and aroma, besides all the activities that cause decay will stop so that the cooled food will last longer. (Hartanto, 1984). With the proper cooling engine planning, it can help with spatial adjustments, adjustments to loading, estimation of the power to be used, and budget plans. That is what is commonly called the cooling load calculation. Calculation of cooling load needs to be carried out before planning. This is necessary because the magnitude of the pending load is very influential on the selection of the cooling engine so that the freezing point for preserving food can be accurate. Pendiginan burden is influenced by external and internal factors. With the experimental method, it is obtained the results of the external cooling load as the external cooling load is 11.6 kW, the inner cooling load is 138.8 kW and the performance work coefficient (COP) is 2.

Abstract

Enhancement human need for energy, especially fossil energy that is used in everyday life as fuel in industry and fuel that is used for personal use. Increased consumption of fossil fuels is not offset by the availability of natural resources, therefore alternative energy is needed to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. One alternative energy that has been found is electrolysis of water to produce HHO gas. This study aims to determine the production rate and efficiency of the HHO gas generator using a variety of NaOH, NaCl and KOH catalysts where each catalyst uses a mass fraction percentage of 4.76%. From the results of the research that has been done the results of NaOH catalyst have a flow rate of 2.203 ml / s and are the best catalyst compared to 1.24 ml / s NaCl catalyst and 1.859 ml / s KOH catalyst. Then for efficiency, KOH catalyst was obtained as the best catalyst with an efficiency of 8.76% compared with NaCl of 8.18% and NaOH of 7.82%

Abstract

Anodizing, also known as metal plating, is a surface treatment for coating metal surfaces with aprotective oxide layer of a certain thickness to protect it from environmental destructive effects thatcause corrosion, wear and increase abrasion resistance. The anodizing method also produces amore attractive, textured and colored metal appearance. The purpose of this study was todetermine how the variation of sulfuric acid concentration in aluminum anodizing process to thethickness of the oxide layer and hardness on the aluminum surface.Outertube that has beenmachined is sanded gradually until the aluminum surface is clean and there are no scratches thatcan interfere with the anodizing results. The anodizing process is carried out using a slideregulator transformer, then the cleaning, etching, desmut, anodizing and rinsing processes arecarried out in each process. The anodizing process was carried out using variations in currentstrengths of 0.75A, 1.5A, 2.25A and 3A with 30, 40, 50, and 60 minutes immersion variation times.The tests carried out included a micro photograph of the thickness of the oxide layer.The testresults show that the addition of current strength in the anodizing process affects the thickness ofthe oxide layer.

Abstract

Vapor carburetor was invented by Tom Ogle in 1971. By his invention, fuel consumption of vehicle more economic than conventional carburetor. In the rare and high price of LPG, writer made a machine which has same principle with vapor carburetor. Gasoline stove can be an alternative and solution for many problem caused gas stove. Writer used aerator as an air supplier and also as vaporizer of pertalite. Writer compared Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) every pressure (variable) which is as an indicator of combustion performance. According from this experiment showed smallest SFC number was happened on 0,6 kPa, which at this point was happened optimum combustion. Generally, at pressure range 0,6 kPa to 2,5 kPa, higher pressure will increase Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) number, but the other way will need shorter time.
