Abstract

This article discusses the ethics of collecting data on Muslim consumers in the digital era with reference to the principles of maqashid sharia, specifically hifz al-mal and maslahah 'ammah. The development of digital technology has changed the way consumers and businesses interact, but data collection practices often lack transparency and risk abuse. In this context, personal data protection is crucial to safeguard individual rights and prevent harm. This research aims to provide an ethical perspective rooted in Islamic values on data management, as well as recommend measures to improve consumer data protection. Keywords : Ethics, Data Collection, Muslim Consumer, Hifz al-Mal, Maslahah 'Ammah

Abstract

This article aims to explore the dynamics of entrepreneurship in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector through a field learning approach based on direct interviews with business actors. The object of study in this research is Japri Coffee, an MSME founded by alumni of the Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta. Interviews with business owners reveal various important aspects in managing a micro business, from the establishment process, business model development, to survival strategies amidst limited resources. Japri Coffee shows that entrepreneurial practices do not always depend on complex managerial structures, but rather on innovative capabilities and flexibility in facing operational challenges. Simple marketing strategies such as word of mouth and the use of social media are part of the adaptation that is relevant to the youth market segment. On the other hand, the transition from manual financial recording to the use of simple software shows that business actors are aware of the importance of more structured financial management. Through this field learning, students gain an empirical understanding of the characteristics and real challenges faced by MSMEs in carrying out entrepreneurial activities sustainably. Keywords: Entrepreneurship, UMKM, Field learning, Japri Coffee, Students

Abstract

The growth of the global Muslim market is driving an increase in demand for halal tourism; the SGIE Report 2024/25 notes that Muslim outbound travel spending amounted to US$ 217 billion (2023) and is projected to reach US$ 384 billion by 2028 (CAGR 12.1%). This study aims to analyze Indonesia's position in Muslim-friendly travel, compare it with Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, and identify the drivers/barriers to ecosystem-based competitiveness. The analysis uses the Global Islamic Economy Indicator (GIEI) framework, which is a weighted composite index with 52 metrics in five dimensions (financial, regulatory, awareness, social, innovation). The methods used are literature study and comparative analysis of SGIE 2024/25 data and scientific references related to the concepts of halal tourism and Muslim-friendly tourism. The results show that Malaysia leads the Muslim-Friendly Travel sector (136.8), followed by Indonesia (102.4) and Saudi Arabia (91.1), which is in line with the 2024 GMTI, which ranks Indonesia and Malaysia at the top, while Saudi Arabia is in the next position. Malaysia's excellence is supported by policy integration, standardization/certification, and promotion; Saudi Arabia excels in religious demand and investment acceleration; while Indonesia is strong in destination potential, but needs to strengthen service standardization, global promotion, digital innovation, and ecosystem coordination to improve competitiveness. Keywords : SGIE, GIEI, pariwisata halal, Muslim-friendly tourism, Indonesia
