Abstract

This paper discusses the effect of the learning model experiental learning based on the Wayang Sukuraga for social skills in elementary schools. The samples are 30 students, which were 15 students in the control class who were not given treatment and 15 students in the experimental class who were given the treatment of experiental learning model. The data used are pre-test and post-test data. The research method used is the experimental method with a quasi-experimental research design with a Non-equivalent control group design. The instruments used are questionnaires and observation sheets. The analysis technique used is hypothesis testing with a simple linear regression test. The hypothesis results indicate that sig was 0.002 and 0.014. The data results are significant < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the experiential learning model based on the Wayang Sukuraga for social skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

Character education is an encouragement referred to the students in order to become fully human with character in conscience, reason, body, taste and intention. The study described in this article is designed to improve the learning discipline of fifth-grade students by using the Discovery Learning (diesel) model. This research is a Classroom Action Research by using the Kemmis and McTaggart method which is conducted through two cycles, Cycle I and Cycle II. Participants in this study involved 29 students, 18 male and 11 female students. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results of the study indicated that the pre-cycle got an average value of 54, in the first cycle, it increased to 67, and in the second cycle, it increased to 84. Based on the results, there was a significant improvement from cycle I to cycle II of 17. It means that it could be classified as very good. In addition, it could be concluded that applying the Discovery Learning model could improve the learning discipline of elementary school students. It was recommended for schools that educators should increase creativity in providing teaching to students. It was not fixated on conventional teaching methods, but it should use varied and more innovative learning models such as the Discovery Learning model or other models. Hence, students could be more independent, creative, and disciplined.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Sukuraga puppet media on students’ descriptive writing skills in upper classes of elementary school. The type of research was Quasi-Experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this research was the fifth-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Rambay in the 2020/2021 academic year. The samples were determined by saturated sampling. The samples of this study were 20 students from class V B as the experimental group and 20 students from class V A as the control group. The descriptive writing skills research data resulted from the instrument in the form of a test that explained one thing that had been validated. Data of the skills described the analysis by using a two-sample independent T test. The test results produced a sig value of 0.025, smaller than 0.05. Thus, H₀ was rejected, H₁ was accepted. These results indicated significant differences between the experimental class and the control class. The Sukuraga puppet media affected students' descriptive writing skills.
