Abstract

Laundry fragrance is one of the products favored by housewives, particularly for softening and scenting clothes. Producing laundry fragrance has become one of the best options for entrepreneurship. Kaliabang Tengah Subdistrict in Bekasi City has considerable potential for conducting community training activities. The purpose of this program was to provide knowledge and skills in producing laundry fragrance as a household product of economic value with the potential to increase community interest in entrepreneurship. The methods used in this activity included theoretical counselling on laundry fragrance and practical training in its production. The results showed that the socialization and practice of making laundry fragrance provided information, knowledge, and fostered the entrepreneurial spirit of the community in Bekasi City. The majority of participants (85%) expressed their readiness to develop this product as a home-based business with affordable capital and wide market prospects. Thus, this activity contributes to community empowerment, creativity enhancement, and the strengthening of family economies in Kaliabang Tengah Subdistrict.

Abstract

Abstract

Goldfish cultivation currently faces several major problems, such as the high prevalence of parasitic infections, particularly those caused by Argulus japonicus. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between MCV, MCH, and MCHC values as indicators of parasitic anemia in goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) infested with Argulus japonicus and the effect of bromelain enzyme supplementation in commercial feed. The research stages include aquarium and maintenance media preparation, bromelain enzyme production from pineapple core, treatment feed production, and Argulus japonicus culture. The experiment employed a factorial-based Completely Randomized Design (CRD) comprising eight treatment combinations, and data analysis utilized the Pearson correlation test in conjunction with multiple linear regression. The results showed a strong positive relationship between MCV and MCH, reflecting normal erythropoiesis, in which erythrocyte enlargement is followed by an increase in hemoglobin per cell. In practice, these findings can be used to detect anemia early, potentially reducing aquaculture productivity. The application of the results of this research can potentially increase fish resistance to disease and support production efficiency in intensive fish farming

Abstract

Feed efficiency and survival rate are two key parameters determining the success and productivity of Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) aquaculture, particularly under intensive tropical culture systems. This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the relationship between feed efficiency and survival rate in determining the productivity of Sangkuriang catfish cultured in Lampung Province, Indonesia. The study was conducted over one production cycle using a completely randomized design with three different feed treatments (Feed A, B, and C), without specifying commercial brands, and using eight replicates. Observed parameters included feed conversion ratio (FCR), survival rate (SR), and biomass productivity. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that differences in feed formulation significantly affected feed efficiency, as indicated by variations in FCR. Still, they did not result in significant differences in survival rate or final productivity. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between survival rate and productivity, while FCR showed a negative but statistically insignificant relationship with productivity. Regression analysis further confirmed that the survival rate was the dominant predictor of productivity, whereas feed efficiency primarily functioned as a factor optimizing resource utilization. This study concludes that under tropical aquaculture systems with low and stable mortality, productivity is more strongly determined by population stability than by variations in feed efficiency alone. These findings contribute to the understanding of productivity determinants in tropical catfish farming and provide practical insights for feed formulation strategies and aquaculture management aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability.

Abstract

Intensive farming of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is highly susceptible to microbiological imbalance due to the accumulation of organic matter, which can increase the risk of bacterial diseases, particularly those associated with the Vibrio group. This study aimed to analyze the dynamics of the Vibrio-to-total bacteria ratio throughout the culture cycle of Pacific white shrimp in South Sulawesi and to evaluate its potential as an indicator of disease risk. The research was conducted in a super-intensive Pacific white shrimp pond in Barru Regency over a single production cycle. Pond water samples were collected twice weekly and analyzed using the Total Plate Count (TPC) method to determine total bacterial abundance and the Total Vibrio Count (TVC) method on Thiosulfate Citrate Bile Salts Sucrose (TCBS) agar to quantify Vibrio populations. The observed parameters included total bacterial count, yellow Vibrio colonies, green Vibrio colonies, and the Vibrio-to-total bacteria ratio. The results showed that total bacterial abundance fluctuated within the range of 10⁶–10⁷ colony-forming units per milliliter (CFU mL⁻¹) throughout most of the culture period. Yellow Vibrio colonies consistently exhibited higher abundance than green Vibrio colonies during almost all observation periods. The Vibrio-to-total bacteria ratio displayed dynamic temporal fluctuations with several pronounced peaks, particularly during the final stage of cultivation, indicating an increasing relative dominance of Vibrio within the microbial community. These findings suggest that the Vibrio-to-total bacteria ratio provides a more comprehensive assessment of microbial community balance than absolute Vibrio abundance alone. Therefore, this parameter has strong potential to serve as an early indicator of disease risk in intensive Pacific white shrimp farming systems.
