Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly transformed the life and learning patterns of Generation Z, particularly in shaping religious character. Technology offers broad access to information and Islamic learning resources, yet it also creates challenges, including misinformation, social media influence, weak digital religious literacy, and declining internalization of religious values. This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening the religious character of Generation Z through technology-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. It employs a literature review method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were collected from relevant national and international journals published between 2021 and 2026 and analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that PAI plays a strategic role in developing religious character by integrating Islamic values with digital technology. Effective strategies include the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), gamification, educational social media, and technology-based Project Based Learning (PjBL). These strategies can be implemented through blended learning, digital mentoring, religious digital content development, and evaluations covering cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. This study proposes an integrative model consisting of Islamic value internalization, educational technology use, supportive learning environments, and digital religious habituation to form religious, noble, and adaptive Generation Z learners.

Abstract

The moral degradation and declining social empathy among students in the disruption era require Islamic educational institutions to move beyond their traditional role as centers of doctrinal knowledge transmission and function as effective agents of socialization. This study examines the role of the sociology of Islamic education in shaping students’ social behavior through the perspective of Peter L. Berger’s social construction of reality theory. Using a qualitative approach with a library research design, data were collected from reputable books and scholarly journals. Data validity was ensured through source and theory triangulation, while analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques involving data reduction, concept classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the formation of Islamic social behavior is a continuous dialectical process encompassing three stages. First, externalization occurs when educators articulate religious values through exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah). Second, objectivation involves institutionalizing these values within school culture, regulations, and the hidden curriculum. Third, internalization refers to students’ absorption of these objective realities into their subjective consciousness, resulting in moral habituation. The study concludes that students’ social behavior is shaped through institutional sociological processes that integrate these three dialectical stages.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of overprotective parenting and its implications for students' character development in the modern era through a literature review. The study is motivated by the increasing tendency of parents to provide excessive protection due to concerns about children's safety, academic achievement, and future success. Using a qualitative approach with library research, this study synthesizes recent empirical findings and theoretical perspectives on overprotective parenting, helicopter parenting, and character education. The analysis reveals that overprotective parenting is characterized by excessive parental control, intensive intervention, restricted autonomy, and dominance in children's decision-making processes. Although intended to protect children, such parenting practices may inhibit the development of essential character traits, including independence, responsibility, resilience, decision-making ability, and social competence. The study further identifies several contributing factors to overprotective parenting, including parental anxiety, perceptions of environmental threats, social pressure, digital media influence, and uncertainty in modern society. To address these challenges, the study proposes balanced parenting, guided autonomy, responsibility-based learning, parent–teacher collaboration, and parenting literacy as strategies to strengthen students' character. The findings contribute to the literature on parenting and character education by emphasizing the importance of balancing parental protection with children's opportunities to develop autonomy and resilience.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of Islamic education in supporting the mental health of Generation Z in the digital era. Generation Z faces various psychological pressures, such as anxiety, overthinking, academic pressure, cyberbullying, identity crises, and the influence of social media. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach through an examination of various relevant scholarly sources. The findings show that Islamic education plays an important role in strengthening spirituality, building resilience, and improving students’ psychological well-being. Islamic values such as patience, gratitude, reliance on Allah, remembrance of Allah, prayer, self-reflection, and moral development can help Generation Z manage emotions, find meaning in life, and face pressure in a more positive way. In addition, Islamic education can also serve as an ethical guideline in the use of technology and social media. Thus, Islamic education functions not only as religious learning but also as a holistic approach to maintaining the mental health of Generation Z.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has influenced nearly every aspect of life, including Islamic education and the character formation of students. The emergence of social media, digital platforms, and the highly open flow of information has brought positive impacts, such as easier access to knowledge. However, it has also given rise to various moral issues, including cyberbullying, the spread of misinformation (hoaxes), hate speech, and the decline of communication ethics in digital spaces. This situation requires Islamic education to adopt more adaptive approaches so that religious values can continue to be effectively internalised among the younger generation. This study aims to examine the challenges of Islamic character education in the digital era, analyse strategies that can be implemented, and identify learning innovations that are relevant to modern technological developments. The research employs a qualitative approach using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method through the collection, selection, and analysis of various scholarly works related to Islamic character education and the digitalisation of education. The findings indicate that Islamic character education requires the integration of religious value reinforcement and digital literacy to enable students to use technology wisely, critically, and responsibly. Furthermore, the use of interactive learning media, blended learning approaches, and educational social media platforms is considered effective in enhancing the internalisation of moral and spiritual values. Therefore, Islamic character education plays a crucial role in shaping a generation that is not only technologically competent but also possesses moral integrity, spiritual awareness, and social responsibility amid the ongoing development of digital society.
