Abstract

The outreach program on the use of statistical systems in petanque training methods aims to improve the effectiveness of training and athletes’ performance through the use of data. The dissemination process consists of five main steps: (1) an introduction to the importance of statistical data for analyzing performance, strengths, weaknesses, and opponents’ strategies; (2) a technical demonstration of how to use the system to record and interpret training and match data; (3) a question-and-answer session to address obstacles and misunderstandings; (4) a hands-on workshop to provide direct experience in collecting and analyzing data in real time; and (5) an evaluation and feedback session following the implementation period to refine the system. Additionally, this training emphasizes participant safety and well-being, including injury prevention and adherence to safety protocols through the role of trained referees. The overall objective of these activities is to create a safe, measurable, and data-driven training and competition environment.

Abstract

The month of Ramadan often poses a challenge for college students to remain physically active due to changes in eating patterns and energy levels. This PKM program aims to design and implement a safe, effective, and fasting-friendly rugby training program for college students in East Java. Training sessions are scheduled at optimal times—after breaking the fast or before the pre-dawn meal—to uphold the practice of fasting without compromising physical fitness. The training materials were developed by experienced coaches and senior rugby players and include gentle warm-ups, light cardio exercises, basic rugby techniques, and effective cool-downs to prevent excessive fatigue. The program also features educational sessions on proper nutrition and hydration during Ramadan, including guidelines for iftar and suhoor to restore energy and maintain hydration. Beyond the physical aspects, this activity instills strong values of camaraderie and teamwork, strengthening social bonds among students from various faculties. It is hoped that this program will provide a valuable experience, raise awareness of the importance of an active lifestyle during Ramadan, and inspire students to stay healthy and enthusiastic while observing their fast.

Abstract

The ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2024 is a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Surabaya and Malang from June 25 to July 6, 2024. The success of this international event largely depends on the readiness of human resources, particularly volunteers who serve as the frontline in providing services to athletes, officials, and international guests. However, prospective volunteers faced several challenges, including limited understanding of their roles and responsibilities, uneven technical preparedness, inadequate cross-cultural communication skills, and insufficient non-technical training to support professional service delivery. These conditions could hinder coordination and reduce service quality during the event. This community service program aimed to improve volunteer readiness and competence through structured socialization and training activities. The program was implemented using the ADDIE approach, consisting of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The training covered volunteer roles and responsibilities, technical skills, emergency response simulations, soft skills development, cross-cultural communication, motivation management, and participant readiness evaluation. The activity involved 40 SMCC volunteers. The evaluation results indicated an improvement in participants' understanding, as reflected by the increase in the average pre-test score from 48 to 68 in the post-test. These findings demonstrate that a structured socialization program effectively enhances volunteers' readiness, competence, and confidence in supporting the successful implementation of the ASEAN University Games 2024.
