Abstract

Language literacy plays an important role in improving elementary school students’ critical thinking skills. Good literacy skills help students understand, interpret, and evaluate information more deeply so that learning is not limited to memorization. This study aims to examine the role of language literacy in enhancing the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing various journal articles and scientific publications related to language literacy, digital literacy, and critical thinking skills. The findings indicate that language literacy, digital literacy, reading and writing habits, and appropriate learning strategies contribute significantly to the development of students’ critical thinking patterns. Literacy that is applied consistently and integrated into Indonesian language learning encourages students to think logically, reflectively, and analytically. This study is expected to provide a theoretical foundation for the development of literacy-based learning in elementary schools to improve students’ critical thinking skills in a sustainable manner.
