Abstract

This study aimed to develop an Android-based interactive learning media using Articulate Storyline 3 for the topic of sets for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Wotu. The study was motivated by the limited educational facilities and infrastructure available at the school, the predominance of conventional teaching approaches, and the lack of teachers' creativity in utilizing instructional media, which caused students to feel bored during the learning process. Therefore, this research sought to develop an interactive Android-based learning media to enhance students' engagement and learning outcomes in mathematics. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants were 28 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wotu. Data were collected through interviews, observations, validation sheets, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results indicated that the developed learning media met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validation results from both material experts and media experts showed that the product was categorized as highly valid. The practicality test conducted by teachers and students demonstrated that the media was highly practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test revealed that the media significantly improved students' mathematics learning outcomes. Therefore, the Android-based interactive learning media developed using Articulate Storyline 3 is considered feasible and effective for use in mathematics learning, particularly on the topic of sets.

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is one of the important competencies in mathematics learning, but this ability is still not optimal in high school students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Solving learning model on the mathematical problem solving ability of class X students of SMAN 5 Palopo. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of class X N7 as an experimental group totaling 32 students and class X N6 as a control group totaling 31 students. Data collection techniques used tests, observation, and documentation. The test instrument was in the form of essay questions arranged based on Polya's problem solving indicators, namely understanding the problem, making a plan, implementing the plan, and re-checking the answers. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and Independent Samples t-Test. The results showed that the average post-test of the experimental group was 83.40 in the high category, while the control group was 37.45 in the very low category. Student activity reached an average of 93.47% in the very good category. The t-test results showed a significance value <0.001. Thus, the Problem Solving learning model is effective for students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
