Abstract

In developing countries, including Indonesia, poverty is still a major problem that impacts economic growth and public welfare. Although various government programs have been implemented, their effectiveness still requires performance improvement. The purpose of this study is to see how Islamic financial literacy, as well as how effective the management of zakat and waqf, contribute to poverty reduction in Indonesia. This study investigates the concept of poverty, ways to manage zakat and waqf, and their impact on public welfare. This study uses a qualitative method based on literature studies. The results of the study indicate that zakat has a strategic role in distributing wealth directly to the poor. On the other hand, productive waqf can create a sustainable source of funding for economic empowerment. The main challenges in optimizing this instrument are the lack of knowledge about Islamic finance and the lack of clarity in the management of zakat and waqf. Therefore, increasing public financial knowledge, collaboration between zakat and waqf institutions, and strengthening a more professional and accountable management system are needed. Zakat and waqf can help overcome poverty sustainably in Indonesia if implemented properly.

Abstract

The widespread circulation of horror content on social media has transformed mystical narratives into digital experiences capable of shaping public perception, emotions, and behavior. This study examines the emergence of collective anxiety and digital mystical fear generated by horror content and explores its implications for Islamic education. Employing a qualitative approach through library research and netnography, the study analyzes theological, psychological, and neuroscientific literature concerning fear, perception, and supernatural beliefs, while netnography investigates users' responses to horror-related content on YouTube and TikTok. The findings reveal that many experiences perceived as supernatural can be explained through psychological and neurological mechanisms, including pareidolia, priming effects, and hyper-arousal. From an Islamic theological perspective, satanic influence primarily operates through suggestion (was-was) rather than direct physical intervention. Furthermore, the amplification of horror content through social media algorithms contributes to collective anxiety, sleep disturbances, restricted daily activities, and declining productivity. Accordingly, this study proposes an Integrative Islamic Education framework that combines digital media literacy with Tauhid-based spiritual literacy to strengthen critical thinking, reinforce sound theological understanding, and mitigate irrational fear in contemporary digital society.
