Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of fertilizer imports on agricultural productivity and agricultural export performance in Indonesia. A quantitative descriptive approach utilized in this research to analyzed secondary time series data from 2014 to 2023 that obtained from reliable sources included FAO, BPS, and Indonesian Central Bank (BI). The data were calculated by using Smart-PLS software, with variables included agriculture export volume, agriculture productivity, and various fertilizer import indicators. The analysis employed Pearson correlation and PLS-SEM, along with evaluations of both the measurement and structural models. The findings indicated that fertilizer imports has no significant impact both direct or indirect on agriculture productivity or agriculture exports. Conversely, agriculture productivity was found to significantly influenced agriculture export volumes. Based on these findings, this study recommended that government policies should be focused on enhancing agriculture productivity through initiatives that support the equitable and timely distribution of subsidized fertilizers, as well as stabilizing the price of agriculture product. A similar approach aimed at boosting productivity can be applied to other commodities to achieve more effective export growth. Key words: export, fertilizer, import, productivity, SEM-PLS
