Abstract

The agricultural sector has gradually adopted the circular economy concept through various implementation models.  Lampung Province as Indonesia’s largest producer of cassava with contribution reached 34.55%  of total cassava production in Indonesia (2019) has also applied  circular economy practices in cassava production.  . These practices included crop–livestock integrated system  that reuse cassava waste  for fertilizer, and value-added products. However, the implementation of circular economy in cassava production systems still faced   various challenges, particularly in optimizing resource use and ensuring consistent economic benefits. In addition, the  socio-economic impacts of circular ecnomy remained insufficiently examined. Therefore, this study aimed  to analyze the socio-economic benefits generated by circular economy practices in cassava agribusiness. The research was conducted over a six-month period in agropolitan villages of Lampung Province. The results showed that farmers reuse cassava leaves as livestock feed and cassava stems as planting material and natural organic fertilizer. In addition, direct economic benefits from cassava waste utilization reached IDR 3,667,000, accounting for 21.54% of total farm income. These findings indicated that circular economy practices contributed positively to farmers’ income and support sustainable agribusiness development in agropolitan areas.   Keywords: Cassava, Circular Economy, Food Sustainability
