Abstract

Malnutrition is the result of a child's nutritional needs not being met for a long time, characterized by a weight for age below the standard deviation (<2 SD). Malnutrition is the result of a child's nutritional needs not being met for a long time. Consequently, malnutrition in children can disrupt the growth and development of their brains and physical development. This study aims to determine the effect of providing education about varied food choices on weight gain in malnourished toddlers. This research method is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental, Nonequivalent Control Group design. The sample used in this study was 50 malnourished toddlers, meeting the inclusion criteria. Digital scales were used to measure the toddlers' weight. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed a significant effect between providing education on dietary variety and weight gain in malnourished toddlers (p ≤ 0.001). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant effect between providing education on dietary variety and weight gain in malnourished toddlers. An effective preventive measure is through education on dietary variety for parents/caregivers to increase the weight of malnourished toddlers.
